PAT’s IDEAL DRAFT SCENARIO

In the first 22 picks, the following come off the board:

3 QBs (Stafford, Sanchez, Freeman) – candidates = Lions, Jaguars, 49ers, Bucs, Jets, Bears, Vikes

3 OL (Smith, Monroe, Oher, ) – candidates = Lions, Rams, Bengals, Jaguars, Bears, Eagles

4 DL (Raji, Orapko, Jackson, Jerry) – candidates = Chiefs, Browns, Bengals, Packers, Broncos, Chargers, Eagles)

3 WRs (Crabtree, Macklin, Hey-Bey and/or Harvin) – candidates = Seattle, Oakland, 49ers, Skins, Jets, Bears, Vikes

2 CBs (Jenkins, Davis) – candidates = 49ers, Bills, Saints, Texans, Bears,

2 RBs (Moreno, Wells) - candidates = Bills, Broncos, Chargers, Bears, Saints, Bucs, Lions, Eagles

1 TE ( Pettigrew) – candidates = Bills, Bears, Bucs, Lions, Eagles

THAT’s 18 picks, now add Curry and Brown (who will certainly be gone) and that’s 20 picks of the board.

That means the PATs will likely be looking at 3 of the following 5 players at #23:

MAYBIN, CUSHING, MAUALUGA, MATTHEWS, ENGLISH

I could live with anyone of them !!

i think you overlooked 1 important thing.

there is always at least 1 draft pick who leaves you scratching your head, maybe 2.

so even if 20 of the listed players go, id think thatd be more than satisfactory

And the funny part is, I would choose somebody else entirely. That's what makes draftniking fun, eh? :)

Realistically, I don't see Pettigrew, Wells or Freeman going that high, though.

I would add a couple of OT's to that board of available players.

Yeah, neither do I. One RB might be gone, but probably not two. But I still think they'll be looking at one of the USC LBs, English & Maybin being on the board.

1 too many QB, RB,TE,WR
2 too few OT/OL
possibly 2 too many DL
This is not scientific method, not because of what I meantioned above more so because we don't really know who's gonnna be taken anywhere.

PAT’s IDEAL DRAFT SCENARIO

In the first 22 picks, the following come off the board:

3 QBs (Stafford, Sanchez, Freeman) – candidates = Lions, Jaguars, 49ers, Bucs, Jets, Bears, Vikes The Bears are going with Kyle Orton and already have his back-up. I don't see them bringing in a 1st round QB. The 49ers just re-committed to Alex Smith. So I don't see them taking a QB. The Jaguars committed a lot of money to Garrad last year. They aren't spending a 1st round pick on a QB. The Vikings pulled themselves out of the Cassel competition with the trade for Sage Rosenfels :)confused::confused::confused:) Yeah, I know. It doesn't make sense. I agree with the Lions and Jets are looking for a QB. Possibly even the Panthers.

3 OL (Smith, Monroe, Oher, ) – candidates = Lions, Rams, Bengals, Jaguars, Bears, Eagles The Eagles signed Stacy Andrews to play RT for them.

4 DL (Raji, Orapko, Jackson, Jerry) – candidates = Chiefs, Browns, Bengals, Packers, Broncos, Chargers, Eagles

3 WRs (Crabtree, Macklin, Hey-Bey and/or Harvin) – candidates = Seattle, Oakland, 49ers, Skins, Jets, Bears, Vikes

2 CBs (Jenkins, Davis) – candidates = 49ers, Bills, Saints, Texans, Bears

2 RBs (Moreno, Wells) - candidates = Bills, Broncos, Chargers, Bears, Saints, Bucs, Lions, Eagles Why are the Bills, Broncos, Chargers and Bears looking for a RB? The Bills have Lynch and Jackson. The Broncos have Jordan, Arrington, and Buckhalter, Andre Hall and Selvin Young. The Chargers restructured Tomlinson's contract and franchised Sproles. The Saints need a RB, but I don't see them bringing in another 1st rounder. The Bears drafted Matt Forte last year and he's their starter. I don't see them drafting a 1st round RB. You should add the Seahawks to this list since they lost Maurice Morris and Kevin Jones only did OK last year.

1 TE ( Pettigrew) – candidates = Bills, Bears, Bucs, Lions, Eagles

Why are you limiting the Pats to just LBs? They could grab an OT like Ebon Britton. They could look at a corner like Sean Smith or a Safety like Louis Delmas.

Laurinitis out of the first round now according to draftniks?

I doubt they would consider any of those at #23 (well....maybe Britton if they like him).

If he'd gone last year he might have been in the top 10.

Everyone says that. Now everyone forgets about him. Why? I'm not saying we should pick him. Just saying he should go in the 1st round.

I'm hoping for another Kyle Boller deal to come rolling by where someone offers the pats a 2nd this year plus a first next year and then the pats can load up in the 2nd round with barwin, sintim, delmas, and the best OL available.....then in the 3rd round go for another OL and a DL.....maybe take a shot on someone like dorrell scott

Everybody says this when a high profile senior looks to be dropping. The flaws teams are seeing now are the same ones that would have shown up in the pre-draft process last year. And many times it is during the combine, etc. that all the web draft gurus get their first actual inside opinions from NFL front-office types.

I think that often, what are seen on draft sites as risers and fallers, are really just those sites catching up to what the NFL see as their true value.

And Laurinitis could be worth a #23 or only be worth the 34th or 47th pick in this draft. In any case, that makes him a top prospect, or at least a look see, for a team looking for two first day linebackers if they can get them.

Great post. During the college season, the big stars of the college game tend to dominate draftnik rankings. But the closer you get to draft time, the more the pendulum swings toward NFL attributes.

It's a good hope, not improbable.
