Michael Holley says that Pats and Browns are in hot pursuit of Ray Lewis

I would find it very hard to root for this guy. Maybe they could bring in Joey Porter also to make Lewis look like slightly less of a douche bag.

Me too to be honest. I feel like I'm watching one of those under armor 'protect the house' commercials everytime the guy speaks.

No matter what we do, Lewis, Peppers, or someone else. They need to bring in a silb who can be a threat against the pass to compensate for our still shakey secondary. After some of the crazy deals, Moss and Dillon, I guess anything is possible. No matter what, I think we bring someone in as a short term fill in until Lufa Tatupu's contract is up in Seattle. I think he would be the perfect match with Mayo. With Seattle being a big question mark, I don't see them in the SB run, and a guy like Tatupu, I bet would play on his father's old team especially if it meant a SB ring

Depends on the money. Lewis can still play at a very high level.

But it's pretty safe to say that if we added Lewis to the mix inside with Mayo (and possibly Taylor) good lord that would be a ferocious front 7.

Especially in 2002. Except Mayo, who'd be like 16 or something.

Ray Lewis is beginning his downslide for sure, but damn he knows how to bring the heat;) Seriously he's a beast even on a bad day and like Rodney, one player's "downslide" is another's career high. Football-wise I'd love a Ray Lewis, providing he's willing to eat some humble pie and learn to zip it:pigsfly:

Ray Lewis would be awesome here if he'd adjust his tude.

Lewis is to old but if he comes cheap what the hell I would take him but we have to get younger.

If Ray Lewis comes to the Pats, he would become the worst free agent signing, I would not be excited about it..

If it comes to either Lewis or Taylor, I take Taylor..

Its is a choice of Peppers , Taylor, and Lewis, and it means say good bye to Richard Seymoer next year.. Julius Peppers would be my choice..

i really would rather not have to root for a guy who killed someone

I would cry in joy if we could sign Ray.

He had his best season in years this past season, and is undoubtedly one of the best MLB's in NFL history. While there are some reasons for concern: he is used to being the "top dog", the finances, conversion to 3-4 and the old murder case, I think he is committed to winning and an unbelievable athlete.

You guys who say this, have any of you watched any football before the merger? From the 70's even? NFL history is a long time. Tough to toss the term around if you've only been watchng football for 10-15 years.

Lewis is probably the best you've ever seen, but only it you never saw Butkus play, or Lambert, or Huff.

"One of"

Key term, get used to it.

I don't know if I'd put him up there with Butkus, but Sam Huff was the master at jumping on top of a pile and getting credit for a tackle. Flame me, but the Ravens got **** done with Ray at the helm.

I'm totally against signing old over the hill players. However, I can make an exception to guys like Jason Taylor and Ray Lewis because they can still play.

There are few NFL players I dislike more than Ray Lewis. I'd be really disappointed if we sign him.

Thanks Dad.

Huff was tremendously overrated. The guy was a star becuase he played much of his career in New York and in Landry's "innovated" defense. Huff even admits to that. He never had the ability to cover like Lewis did in his prime eventhough the game didn't require it as much back then.

And Ray Lewis, in his prime, was better than Singletary considering all the talent surrounding him in Chicago. As far as Lambert? I saw him play a ton and I find it hard to say he was one of the 5 best MLB of all time when you can make the case that he wasn't even the best LB on his team (yes, I realize Ham played OLB, but the point still stands).

All that said, I still don't want Ray Lewis at this point. But feel free to tell me about the good ole days and how I haven't seen any "real" football.

Ah, the move improved upon by Seau and perfected by Ray Lewis.

What is this, a "Who's The Oldest" contest? :p

My beef with the Pats getting Lewis is that I have NO desire to see him doing his dance routine when he comes out of the tunnel. As it is, we need to tell Hobbs to stop dancing

I've no desire to see Ray Lewis a Patriot, however BB will do what is best for the team. If he comes on board, I'll have to bite my tongue and support him like every other Patriots player.

As a sub plot, it will be interesting to see how Joe Flacco backs up his rookie season with the defections on the Ravens D taking place.
