Re: Gaffney to Broncos

Personally I'm hoping we can get Torry Holt.

Holt would be a nice addition, but Im not sure how cheap he would come. Then there is the whole ego factor. Is holt willing to except being the third option in the passing game for another shot at a ring?

Re: Gaffney to Broncos

I liked Gaffney in 2007, but he cost this team 1-2 games this past year with his drops. Nice player but replaceable.
Gaff came through for us more than he let us down, but 2 or 3 of his six drops this season are easier to remember. Bummer, thought he was solid in the position that we used him in.

You could say that his drop td pass against the Colts cost us the playoffs. If he catches that its more then likely the Pats win the game, and finish ahead of the Colts in the playoff race. But that was one play of many that cost us the playoffs. 3rd and 15 anyone? Anyway, sad to see him go. He was a good player and seemed to have a good connection with Brady. And was huge in the 2007 playoff run. I wish him luck, just not against the Pats.

Tell me you are joking Tom... Clayton is as big a bust as CJ.

Not even CLOSE to a big of a bust as CJ. Clayton at least had a great rookie year. Then injuries & Gruden's doghouse (for whatever reason) got in the way of his development. He's a nice physical WR that is a great blocker and I think could at least match Gaffney's production.

Alternately, as another poster mentioned, Brandon Jones is another guy I'm very interested in. I'm curious to see what he could do on a team with an actual QB.

Disagree on Paxton. Remember the year he was hurt? We had to switch snappers and holders multiple times and Vinatieri had a VERY off year. Continuity is key, I would never mess with that.

Right, that was the year I was referencing where they brought in some dude who was out of football to longsnap. They also won the SB that year. So I'm not worried about Paxton. He was very good, but for years people on this board seem to think of him as some sort of rare NFL commodity; he isn't.

Aw, I'm sorry to hear this.

Wasn't that the year the team won a super bowl?? He was hurt for like 6 games?? THAT was Vinatieri's OFF year...and that had NOTHING to do with Paxton...switch snappers??? Duh...when the new snapper came in he was IRed and injured after a game or two...switched...no..replaced because of injury...yes.

I did like Gaffney...better in 07 than in 08...I might have liked to sign him..BUT..like Paxton..there will be OTHER options..and maybe BETTER ones...

Before free agency began, I thought that the Patriots had

eight players worth re-signing: Evans, Gaffney, Hochstein, Paxton, J.

Sanders, L. Sanders, Wright, and Woods. Now, except for Woods, I don't

expect any of them to be re-signed.

God bless Jabs! Thanks for everything!

Until there is money in the till, there are no better options.

Hochstein and bother Sanders' are likely to be resigned, IMO.

How would Laveranues Coles look opposite Randy ?

I sure hope so, don't wanna see either of them go.

As far as Gaffney goes, that sux--i'll always remember him for that big back of endzone catch in AFCCG, that was too sweet. The MNF game at Baltimore game was big too, when he made the winning grab to keep the 16-0 alive.

Not for 7M per year. Reportedly he turned down a 6M dollar offer from the Jets.

Man McDaniels is just snatching up the Pats players isn't he? First Paxton and now Gaffney. Who's next?
