Beckett looks thin.

 I was worried this was a juicer  thread ...

Seriously ... Josh is 29 and has just learned what many of us learn in their later 20's ... good for him ... that spare tire is nothing but trouble.

Looks like he cut back on the beer and deer that he killed over the fall haha

2009 is an odd numbered year. You know what that means? Very good Josh Beckett. haha

They're starting to resemble each other. :D

By the same token.... Papi looks fat and sloppy. :(

You are kidding right?

I was serious actually. Papi has always been a "Big" guy, but he didn’t start to get really sloppy looking until after the wrist injury.

I was kinda hoping he would have put in some work this off-season and tightened back up a little bit. He looks extra soft and flabby to me right now. That bat speed isn’t gonna get any faster on its own.

I'm of the exact opposite thought. Look at some of those photos on the globe website. Everyone is saying Papi is in noticeably better shape.

Are you confusing Ortiz with Brad Penny? Everything about the shape Ortiz is in has been overwhelmingly positive.

The Red Sox slugger arrived a day early, and once he became more visible, it was evident the big man is in great shape. The 6-foot-4, 230-pounder is slimmer and appears to be stronger and healthier than he was in 2008.

Little Papi? Not exactly. At the same time, however, David Ortiz has come to camp a little slimmer, and with a clearly more firm physique than in years past.

Ortiz, looking slimmer than last season, said his left wrist has healed 100 percent after heeding Dr. Thomas Gill's advice to take two months off and then resuming his hitting program. Ortiz said once he returned to hitting he was fine, and the "popping" noise he heard and felt in his wrist was gone.

Ortiz looks like he broke out of his fat shell and had muscle underneath
