Izzo is going to testify against Bonds during his upcoming perjury trial; he is one of many who admitted to receiving shipments of steroids from Greg Anderson and BALCO:

Feds: Estalella said Bonds admitted steroid use

Re: Izzo connected to steriods/Bonds according to court documents.

While you are correct that the masses agree - fans shrug their shoulder when an NFL player gets caught but scream as loud as they can when a MLB player is caught - it's still a double standard and hypocrisy on the part of both the media and sports fans, in my opinion.

That seems to depend on which player gets caught, thinking back to Rodney:mad: I agree about the double standard applied to MLB vs the NFL in general. When Jose Canseco's book came out it was like the shot heard round the world, same as when Rogahh finally got nailed beyond any hope of a "mistake".
Maybe part of the attitude difference is the salaries, maybe part of it is MLB players seem to denydenydeny until their backs are against the wall whereas NFL players seem to fess up sooner than later so there's less press, plus people seem to appreciate upfront confessions.
I wonder if someday there'll be an NFL tell-all on steroids, along the lines of Cansenco's book.

its football, so there is a double standard

Re: Izzo connected to steriods/Bonds according to court documents [Update: Will testi

One of the big differences in my mind is how the athelete reacts. Bonds, Clemens, and other deny using the drug and continue to deny using it even as the evidence piles up against them. I realize I am lumping them all together in a group but still many have lied to their fans and to government officials.

It seems to me that in football players have gotten caught and punished. Rodeny admitted to use and so did Merriman. I feel they did the crime and paid the price. So it is not the same issue

Pats seem to have alot of snitches!

Well, two.

Re: Izzo connected to steriods/Bonds according to court documents.

Another reason football is left off the hook is that they test 4 times during the season and up to 6 random times off season. EACH PLAYER. Jason Taylor last year was tested 8 times, and he's never had drug issues.

In baseball, you're tested on the first day of spring training and then once randomly during the season.

The tests are a joke....nobody ever fails, we only find out guys like Rodney and Izzo were using, when they get caught in a paper trail......

Rodeny admitted to use and so did Merriman........

I seem to remember Merriman claiming it was a tainted supplement.

Re: Izzo connected to steriods/Bonds according to court documents [Update: Will testi

Rodney never admitted to steroids, only HGH. It's not the same thing.

Rodney never admitted to steroids, only HGH. It's not the same thing.

Obviously they are not the "same thing", but Balco drugs and HGH are both banned PEDs and both very hard to detect - so they are same for the purpose of this argument......
