Chiefs offer GM job to Pioli

Floyd Reese is a FOB, and would make a good replacement for Pioli. Reese did a good job at Tenn, working with an owner who is an absolute jack@ss. I think the only big drafting mistake made while Reese was there was Pacman.

Dallas was born in Wichita and has family there...

really? i wish scott pioli the best of luck in KC. i would much rather see him go to KC, cut Bernard Pollard and fire Edwards than him going to cleveland, which i guess is not happening.

Edit:
Cut Bernard Pollard's achilles tendon.

Re: Chiefs Offer Pioli GM Job

so....if another team signs franchised Cassel, the Patriots get 2 first round draft choices.
so why not wait for that, instead of settling for a #2 and a player from KC?

btw, if you trade with KC, isnt a #1 the price for a starting QB coming off that kind of year. sheeesh, if we got a #1 for Drew INT Bledsoe.........
or...since we dont know about Brady, can Tyler Thigpen be part of the mix? He showed a lot this year. Not a Cassel, but could fill in a genuine backup to Brady.

serious question guys. need feedback.

why would Patriots trade Cassel instead of letting another team sign him and getting 2 #1's ? What are pros and cons?
unless....the Chiefs #2 at 35 is almost a 1. Is the Chiefs #2, and Larry Johnson enough?
Thigpen? The Chiefs #1?

They wouldn't but it's also very unlikely a team would sign him at the cost of two #1s. If a team, even the Jets, would, I have no doubt the Patriots would be very happy with that development. VERY happy.

Yeah, there's going to be just too many other veteran quarterbacks (Matt Hasselback, Gus Ferrotte, Garcia, Favre) on the market for a team to justify giving up two 1s to sign Cassel when they could get a suitable QB for no picks and an okay amount of money.

So, yeah, it'd be nice to sit back and make someone give up the two 1s, it just isn't going to happen.

But, considering what we got Cassel for and how he performed this last year when we really needed him, anything that we get for his has to be looked at as pure profit. :D

Peter King was just on WEEI and siad he didn't think any offers were made yet and that there was a possibility he could stay in NE.

I believe that the longer this process takes, the more likely it is that he stays in New England. Of course, I also thought that about Viniateri, and look how that ended up. :confused2:

John Clayton was on the radio this morning and said it seemed unlikely Pioli would reach an agreement with Kansas City and said to expect an announcment Monday or Tuesday from the Patriots that Pioli was staying in New England.

I would love to see Pioli stay in New England for at least another year. :) If the Chiefs owner won't relinquish full control to Pioli or at least as much as Pioli is asking for, he deserves to get stuck with whatever loser came in second on his list of candidates. :p
