I had read somewhere... maybe here... that when Mangini was a young assistant Belichick gave him money and helped him find an apartment and such things.

I was just wondering if this was true.

Belichick has been known to give money to junior coaches. I don't know about the rest of that. The Globe did an article on the softer side of Belichick that is worth reading. There was another article in which he pulled over to help a driver after a car accident. Frankly, the positive articles require a little more searching than the negative stuff.

I have talked with Kirk Ferentz and can confirm the part of BB giving money to junior coaches

Yes. Its true. Belichick has always helped his junior coaches in this manner.

Oh, the horror of it all!

Thanks guys. My friends were talking about how evil a guy Belichick is and I gave them some examples and they couldn't believe it. Just wanted some sources. Thanks again.

Ahh that's what I get for lovin' the Pats in another state.

I don't know about Mangini, but I heard a story on how he met Pioli. I guess Pioli was a college student or just out of college and was interested in getting into football. He would go to the Giants' training camp every day. Someone introduced him to Belichick and Belichick invited him to stay in his condo so he didn't have to commute back and forth and also allowed him to sit in on all the defensive coach's meetings.

I do know that Belichick took him as a copyroom guy and gave him a shot at working on the coaching staff.

I heard that BB drives a Rav 4, that's kinda nice.

Every team takes signals. This is not a big deal. The Pats were penalized because they tried to streamline the process by taping from the field and lining up signals with the scoreboard and the play. The information they got from that was no different than the information everyone else got except that it was all on one tape and required no editing, whereas it would take several hours of work for other teams to edit that info. Spygate was so over blown and more about a media assault on BB than any real cheating or advantage.

I heard you drive a Mazda Miata. ;)

======================================================

I wish, I drive an E350 cargo van 12 mpg.

I remember a something about BB going to some sort of function somewhere, one that he did not need to attend. He got lost on his way in his Rav4, and he had to be talked in by some guy on a cell phone.

The gist of the story as I remember is BB went above and beyond to get there, and everyone thought he was real nice for showing up even though he was late.

It has always stuck with me that he drove a Rav4 when he could be driving a Lamborghini.

BB probably prefers his softer side to be a little under wraps. You know, he won't be writing about his quiet strength anytime soon.

Isn't "quiet strength" a bit of an oxymoron when you are shouting about it from the rooftops through a national publication? Perhaps just a misnomer? :)

I heard that Belichick met Mangini at an Art Gallery in London. He liked what Mangini's work was saying to him, so they met a few times. They took pictures of themselves in the nude, then made love in the morning, recording the whole thing. Thats when Belichicks wife walked in and saw Mangini sitting at the kitchen table wearing her bathrobe.

....thats either how they met, or how John Lennon met Yoko Ono, I cant remember now......

He also took the time to personally call Joe Klecko and apologize for cutting his son. But Klecko received no such call from St. Dungy when Dan was cut from the Colts. But you won't hear about that in the national media though cuz that would make his holiness look bad.

Hopefully Pioli remembers that too.

How does this crap stay in this forum? Adds nothing and takes away a lot.
