If Cassel leads the patriots to a superbowl win, with stats like +350 yards passing and +80 yards rushing. What kind of players on other teams will Cassel get?

I love watching Adrian Peterson run, do you think we could get him for Cassel? What about Steve Smith, he is like Wes Welker but only stronger.
What about Chad Johnson from the Bengals? Ed Reed from the Ravens?

Cassel is an unrestricted free agent. They will get nothing for him.

Well I heard that they can franchise him and then trade him, but then again, if the pats are asking for too much, then other teams will just wait another year for Cassel to go into the free agent market.

Well if I was the vikings, and if Cassel leads the patriots to a superbowl win, with really great stats, and Iam getting a 1st round RB in return for Adrian Peterson I might do it. The Vikings are in the NFC, so its not like they have to play past the patriots to get to the superbowl.

The Vikings will not trade the face of their franchise.

Well they do get a mobile QB that can win superbowls and also a 1st round RB in return for Adrian Peterson. And the Vikings are a hungry franchise just itching for some playoff success.

Adrian Peterson is great and all, but the vikings and other teams know that you need good QB if you want to win the superbowl.

Just imagine if the patriots had Adrian Peterson as a RB, and they line up in a 4 WR set, that will stretch out the defense and you know Adrian Peterson has some of the sickest juke moves in the open field. And if other teams line up 8 in the box to stop Adrian Peterson, then they will be playing with fire cause Brady will just light it up like a xmas tree.

One word. Ambitious.

I think Vikings fans would revolt if the team traded AD.

Maroney can never stay healthy and you want them to trade a hall of fame talent RB for Cassel? The kid is alreay a top 3 back, this is beyond a pipe dream.

If the mod on call could move this nonsense where nonsense threads belong...

Some of you people are we even in the Playoffs?

That's one reason the thread is stupid.

The other one is that one can always get a franchised player for 2 first-round picks, and I doubt the Vikes would rather have 2 picks and Maroney than Peterson.

Having played college locally counts for very little in how teams value players ...

Even if that were remotely possibly, I'd still rather trade for a CB/LB over that. Our offense is fine the way it is.

Matt Cassell is not a top 5 qp; Matt Cassell will not be franchised; No team would be willing to pay Matt Cassell to be the 3rd highest paid QB in the league and also be willing to give up talent/draft-picks as well. Matt Cassell if he had the chance to be the 3rd highest paid QB would not turn it down for a long term contract making him the 15 highest paid QB. Matt Cassell won't even have a guaranteed starting job next year; he'll just have a "You're the lead but can easily lose it" job.

Cassell is playing well, but he's still got the same offense around him that last year had the best offensive season in history, and that kinda helps his stats. Cassell will not play as well next year with lesser talent; he's not the missing piece to bring a 2-14 team into playoff contention.

And Maroney won't get you Peterson straight up.

Why would we want Peterson anyway? We have LawFirm, lightly used on Thursday night and it showed. We wouldn't have been 4 of 14 on 3rd downs if BJGE had had more playing time.

If the Pats win the Super Bowl, they may be able to franchise and trade Cassel. But trading him for Peterson ain't going to happen. The Vikes might give up their first and maybe a third for Cassel though since they feel they are a QB away from being a legitimate contender.

Threads like this are proof positive that we have a tremendous need for a kids forum around here. Too bad it is all but impossible to regulate age without a gigantic hassel. :)

lol i love threads like this.

People get so pissed like they are actual GMs, and you are a member of their staff that came up to their office and proposed this crap.

i propose a 3 way trade: Matt Cassel for Rex Grossman for Ty Law
