Things I learned from this game

Losing a winnable game sucks but I'd rather be this team today than the one they lost to...

Colts just aren't themselves on offense regardless of who is in the starting defensive lineup.

I do get the sense the Pats are slowly and steadily building towards something as the analysts last week seemed to pick up on. Just too bad they had a handful of mental lapses last night - mostly on the sidelines (and up in the box) to boot - or they come away with another conference road win in the process...

We are progressing well and are a good team...

The AFCE is going to be ours.

Great post to lead a great thread, JSn.

I'd like to add one thing - Kevin Faulk is an absolute gamer. He pounded the ball on draws, screens, shuffles, etc...did a great job in blitz pickup...and almost made the 2pt conversion happen despite marginal blocking (all game long).

Nice post, the sky is not fallling, what was obvious is how we neutralized Sanders with Moss.. as Sanders had to be in double coverage all night as the CB's were raw.. that is how we took advantage of the secondary and why our running game looked so effective..

Other things..
Freeney is not what he used to be
Our O line is making huge strides
Manning is definitely off
Addai is definitely off(I know it is his first week back)
BB is not solely responsible, it was a team loss.. really proud of our D, they played really well against this mighty foe..

Just wanted to add, I'd rather be the N.E. Patriots then the Indy Colts, in response to a thread a while back. I'll take the loss with the way the team performed. Thought the defense played well, as Manning may not be the same but he's still very capable, just ask the Ravens.

Another thing I'd like to add regards the composure of Cassel.

He may not be has fiery as Brady, but he certainly is almost as composed. The only 'desperation' plays he made was the useless toss to Faulk on 4th and 16 and the desperate INT to Bob Sanders.
I love Brady as much as the next man-lover on this board...but often I get turned off by the pouting and the "I can't believe this is what you gave for a WR corps" look that lasted all of 2006-2007 where all we talked about was his demeanor. Cassel seemed to not even blink after Jabar's drop - a good sign.

Bottom line: I like this team more this morning than I did last night. I think we are poised for a run just like Winter 2006. Bring it on!

That can't be repeated enough!

-Though I would not go as far as to suggest that Neal is the glue to the OLine, having him back fully healed makes a huge difference.

-Meriweather continually and steadily improving his game and Wheatley showing he can play. Said this and despite his improved play, I'm still not comfortable with Sanders as Rodney's future replacement. So I hope the brass drafts another safety on day 1 and extend Sanders as the third safety.

-The rookies Mayo and Guyton getting "it" and continuing to make plays from the inside. By next season, I think Guyton will be a starting caliber LB and Mayo will begin to dominate.

Cassell did look better..........But the best line from that game was, Cassell takes what the defense gives him, Brady takes what he wants. Let's not get too carried away with the composure thing.

Nice line.
But untrue.
Just look at Brady in the last SB.

Untrue. Brady took what he wanted over 80 percent of the time last year. You're talking one game....Brady took what he wanted most of the time last year.

Yes, Madden knows far more about football than you.
