Congratulations to the Rays

In your original post, your whole premise was comparing Sox fans to Ray fans. Gee, kind of like comparing George Washington to George Bush. What did you expect from an expansion franchise who never came close to winning. Last year they won 66 games and finished 30 games out. I don't know if they will stay in St. Pete, but don't compare the fans to an organization in which has been around since the early 1900's.
As far as beating the Phils, the Rays pitched their weakest starter and barely got beat. So, they will win in five.
mlb fans in fla suck. end of story. the marlins have won twice . what happen to those fans? they dont even show up. there is no comparision between sox fans pre 67 and ******* rays fans.

Its too early to group the Rays with the Marlins. I know you don't like them, but don't misjudge them because they didn't draw in their first winning season ever. To even compare a baseball town with Tampa is fairly ridiculous. As jm stated, the Celtics did not draw until this past year and look at their storied history.
As far as the Rays being down 3-1, hey they may lose. A couple of their players slumped at a bad time, Sox fans should relate. Even if Philly wins, there maybe the fourth best team in baseball, but they would be World Champions. If they don't win the suspended game, they could be in big trouble.

the Celtics have drawn for years. unless you have attendance stats from the 60s and 50s you would like to share. did the Celtics sell out every game in the last 5 years ? no but they had plenty showing up even in the down years. defending rays fans is just silly. they didn't start showing up till mid september:rolleyes: and i didn't compare redsox fans with rays fans you did. comparing Celtics fans with rays fans now that's ridiculous. and no its not to early to group rays and marlins together.

Actually, the theme was comparing Sox fans and Ray fans. That was what someone posted. As for the Celtics, during the 60's when they were winning World Championships one after another and hoisting them to the rafters, they were not drawing. Better yet, if you wanted to see them win you had to buy a ticket as they were only on radio. My 'comparison' to the Celtics, was that the Celtics have a storied history and the fans haven't turned out lately, while the Rays are the last expansion team and have never come close to a winning season till this year. My point is that at least give the Rays until next year to judge them, not compare them to the Marlins who won two world championships.

i know what your comparison is and its bullsh!t.
the Celtics were drawing in the 60s your wrong. they didn't sell out every game but they had good crowds. they also had good turn out before last year. the celtics were only on radio ya so what. it was the 60s:rolleyes:. it was that way for every team. the league was fairly new. are you kidding me? there is zero comparison between the rays fan base and the Celtics none.

Wow, selective memory.
Do you know why the Celtics wore black sneakers in the 60's?
There wasn't a total bandwagon blitz on the Celtics this year?
The tv analogy: if you wanted to see the Celtics play during the 60's, you had to go in person vs the Rays (who are broadcasted every game).
Zero comparison to Celtics and Rays, just that a lot of fans don't show up untill you win.

the Celtics having a bandwagon blitz is a lot different than so called rays fans total apathy until mid september of this year. give me a break. the tv analogy is mind numbingly stupid. it was the freakin 60s no team in the league had media coverage like today's sports teams. are you high or what? your grasping at straws

Didn't want to answer the black sneaker question?
If you can't debate, then just attack. What might be numbingly stupid, is not thinking out the statement. Do I need to spell it out for you?

The marlins have 2 championships.Cant compare them to the rays. The bad news for the rays is that they play in a division with the yankees, red sox, blue jays. All those teams will spend money in the off-season.

comparing rays media coverage now to the celtics media coverage in the 60s is beyond stupid. whats next are you going to compare redsox attendance in 1918 to the rays 2007 attendance lmao. ya ok your right  I'm still waiting for those 50s and 60s attendance stats. and spare me its to early to judge rays fans and if they will support there franchise. all you need to do is look to south fla to get your answer. they won twice and still they dont show up. the fans in south fla did the same thing as rays fans. they started going to games in mid september in both 97 and 03. now they are gone. the same thing will happen to the rays.

No I don't, I effin hate them, more than I hated the Yankee teams of the 1990's; too bad Doofin Rays, NO WORLD SERIES FOR YOU!!

They shot their load vs the Red Sox and had nothing left in the tank, so good bye, so long and enjoy your Cinderalla season as the Red Sox and Yankees are going to spend you into the ground.

Nice ear flaps on those hats too by the way, what's next, scarfs and mittens?

WTF? Ok I'll spell it out and we will let everyone judge for themselves as your not going to let it go and neither am I. There was a day when you couldn't watch your favorite NFL team on tv. Why, because it was blacked out due to the stadium not drawing enough people. Thus, if you wanted to see a game, you had to buy a ticket.
The Celtics games back in the 60's were not televised and they did not draw great crowds considering they had won world champions back to back to back to back, etc, etc. Thus, they had hard times making ends meet. That is the reason why they wore black sneakers (less expense to clean/ still looked new).
Now, isn't it quite possible that an expansion team, which does not have any history, which has never had a winning season, which all of its games are televised, that the fans would stay home rather then go to the park.
There are many difference between the Celtics coming around this year and the Rays. The Celtics acquired stars while the Rays were youngsters coming into their own. Do not rant about the Celtics fans last year as they were not much better then the Rays of last year considering the Celts history. As I stated before, judge the Ray fans by next year's attendance, not how the Marlin fans behave.

ill judge the rays fans the way i feel like it. enough with your dumb ass Celtics comparisons. the Celtics during there worst year had double the fan support then your pathetic rays. your comparing the 60s era with today? name one team in the nba back in the 60s that sold out on a regular basis. you cant because there wasn't any so stfu about the Celtics already. the Celtics drew good crowds in the 60s. not sell outs all the time but good crowds. its a stupid comparison to begin with it was 45 years ago many many things were different including media coverage. there is a difference between not selling out a stadium and not showing up at all. for example a team may get blacked out on tv because it wasn't a sell out. that doesnt mean they didn't have a decent crowd at the game. it means they didn't sell out. before mid September of this year the rays would barley get 20 percent of there stadium filled:rolleyes: the Celtics wore black sneakers in the 80s also. was that because they were hard up for money also? where do you get this sh!t? you must own stock in the rays lol no wonder your so desperate to defend there sorry ass fans.. the rays support sucks deal with it

Like I mentioned in my previous post, I'll let the members decide based on the merits of my posts. BTW, I'm not a Rays fan. In regards to you telling me to stfu, as Fitzy would say GFY!

I have included the attendance results for the World Champion Boston Celtics during the 60's:
59-60 : 7755
60-61 : 7199
61-62 : 6852
62-63 : 8753
63-64 : 7445
64-65 : 8218
65-66 : 7942
67-68 : 8670
68-69 : 8948
69-70 : 7504

The largest crowd at the Garden was 17,874 in 95-96, tho usually averaged arround 14,916. Thus, the average crowd for the NBA Champions was 7,929, or just over half filled................................

back in the Sixties, the sneakers were black. Red Auerbach said he chose black sneakers for his teams because white ones were always dirty looking: consider that back in the early years the arenas were far from the almost aseptyc laboratory-like ones of nowadays. So Red figured that if his team wore black sneakers, the dirt would not show and they'd last longer. Only in the Eighties the Celtics shifted to dark green, almost black, even if the white players like Larry Bird looked even slower because of those cloddish-looking dark sneakers: "the shoes have definitely contributed to the image of the Celtics as a team of slow white guys" said Dan Shaughnessy in his Auerbach biography "Seeing Red". I hope this helps, Tim. Have a merry Christmas.

Spin that anyway you'd like, but I'll stick to my original statement.

your a freakin moron lol. wtf does black sneakers have to do with the Celtics or rays attendance? not enough people showed up so the Celtics used black sneakers? is that your argument? lmao unbelievable. you obviously have a total lack of understanding of what was going on in the nba during the 60s or you wouldn't make such a ludacris ridicules comparison in the first place. 60s stats compared to a baseball team in today's sports market. completely moronic. gfy back at ya. goof lmao . the rays wish they got more than half there place filled prior to mid semptember of this year.

Hey guys, I'm done. I'll let my prior posts stand on their merit. I always love debating when some one's argument if full of attacks, speaks volumes.

I have a dislike for Philadelphia even more now because it's Captain Douchebag's (Sen. Specter) home state, BUT I am glad that the Phillie's won for the sake of not having to watch annoying bandwagon jumpers wearing crisp, new hats that claim the Rays to be world series champions. At least, Philly fans will know how to savor it and they will cherish it even more.
