Re: Brady Has 2nd surgery

Do the Patriots have someone from their medical staff on the left coast withBrady? If not why? Or do they trust Will to make sure Brady is doing everything the way he is suppose to be doing it.

He is not Pacman, he doesn't need a babysitter.

Re: Brady Has 2nd surgery

I would assume it's a much less serious surgery to clean up infection and get antibiotic directly to the affect area.

Didn't Manning's surgery get infected as well?
My fear is someone will follow the logical progression to exploring 2009 impact, and have a hockey game break out.

That sort of behaviour simply cannot be tolerated. To the gas chambers... oh. Wait...

I'll say this: Hockey is a way more physically brutal sport than football and Goodell could stand to watch a few games. I sure hope he never presides over hockey rule-making or they'll start using tennis balls and roller blades inside a padded rink.

Re: Brady Has 2nd surgery

Florio can be a turd, but here's a good nugget from his post on Brady's second surgery.

"Really, if the source close to Brady didn’t blab to Reiss, the information likely wouldn’t have come out until next year, when a then-healthy Brady will likely be giving interviews about his rehab process.

So if the information about the second surgery weren’t disclosed now, we likely would have heard various voices in the media complain come July or August that the Patriots hid the information, too, even though the condition of Brady’s knee for strategic reasons has no practical relevance until September 2009."

i really dont know why the media has to be told if someone had a second surgery or not .its a medical matter . when brady had his sports hernia surgery no one even knew he had an ailment until the pats released a statement.

Tennis balls? Those hurt when they hit you! Which is why Goodell has been enlisted as an advisor for the New and Improved NHL - Nerf Hockey League.

Re: Brady Has 2nd surgery

Certainly NOT good news.
It is definitely a rare occurrence following this type of surgery.

It may slow down the start of his rehabilitation

This is common and will not hold up rehab, here are Mike Lombardi's thoughts: The National Football Post | National Football Post Diner News

As we reported with Peyton Manning, having a second operation is common to handle some infection and to clean up the loose bodies. And one thing I do know is that Brady’s knee will be stronger than it was before and his rehab will move along very smoothly. With the advancement made in medicine these kinds of knee injuries are very easy to come back from and I expect Brady to be at full force for camp next year.

Re: Brady Has 2nd surgery

I've always thought that Boston's hospitals were the top of

the line.

Remember, Brady's doctor is a Steeler fan........infectiongate!!

Re: Brady Has 2nd surgery

It's really scary. I hope everything is fine.

Strangely, I never really got hurt much playing football but I got a tennis ball in the eye that scared me and really hurt, plus when bending down to retrieve a ball near the net my female opponent tried to just bop me on the head with the raquet net and missed slicing my scalp bloody with the side stitches. All I was doing was a bit of taunting.

ROFL sounds like Happy Gilmore but on a tennis court. Must not have been much fun for you but sounds hilarious!

Re: Brady Has 2nd surgery

Brady had 3 Bursa sacs removed. Manning only had one.

3>1 = Brady > Manning

It's all about the Bursa Sacs

Re: Brady Has 2nd surgery

I "hope" (for lack of a better word) that this is only a common, treatable, serious infection and not MRSA. The last report I heard on the ESPNR (I know, I know) said that it was more serious and required immediate attention. It's a leap to conclude that it might be MRSA but my wife dealt with the effects of it after her last C-section and it can be wicked stuff. The infection showed up two weeks after she was released and feeling great. It took her a month to recover from the after-effects of the infection which sapped her of her strength.

Our thoughts are with TB as he recovers from these surgeries.

Re: Brady Has 2nd surgery

Ever heard of mrsa--drug resistant staph infection. Hospitals are a common place to get them.

MRSA: Experts Answer Your Questions

It's nasty. Looking back and knowing what we do now I'm amazed at how haphazard the hospital staff that was treating my wife. She was isolated and the door posted. Masks, scrubbing and gloves required before entering and exiting, equipment (stethoscopes, thermometer, blood pressure equipement, etc.) was supposed to stay in that room and used only on her. Within 2 days of her being there, equipment started leaving, masks and gloves weren't always used. It's no wonder to me that there's a MRSA outbreak in the hospitals.

Re: Brady Has 2nd surgery

I don't want to scare anybody but I was recently reading about someone with an infection after knee surgery that hurt so bad for so many years that finally he had his leg amputated.

I'm not a pessimist typically but you can bet that I'm worried.

Did he have million's of $$'s and team of doctors and medical experts on both the East and West coast looking at his medical records/charts and conferring on a daily basis about what needs to be done next?

Just wondering. ;)

I understand your concern.

Well, since his father was a multi-millionaire, I assume he had good medical care, but then again, maybe not. Check this out:

So, Depardieu had knee surgery. And then...
In 2003 he developed a Staphylococcus aureus infection, which led eventually to his leg being amputated.

That's sad.

The dealio here is that Tom's Knee is damn near the property of the New England Patriots, so with that in mind Tom can have surgery anywhere in the world that he wants to have surgery, but there has to be an agreement with the club on the Doctor - and of course the club and the doc's will then share in all info regarding his knee in regards to Surgery/Rehab and follow up.

I guess what I'm saying is this, while that's a sad story - I'm willing to bet that the daily to weekly prodding that Tom's knee is getting and the sharing of information between experts will keep anything bad from happening and is light years past the exposure that Gerard knee got post surgery.

Ya know? Or am I just pissing in the wind trying to make people feel better about this.
