The Pats NEED to start O'Connell next week...Cassel just cant cut it

By no means am I exonerating anyone on the team, from the Quarterback, to the Special teams players, to the head coach. However, the simple truth is that if Moss had made catches on those passes, the game would have been completely different. And, the reality is that those passes should have been caught by Moss.

We'll never know that either. We looked pretty pathetic in the red zone tonight. I do wish he would have at least TRIED to catch the first one though.

Cassel must be his dad or something lol

No. he's the type of guy who refuses to admit that he is wrong. He has spent hours telling me I'm an idiot for calling Jackson a bust, the d overrated, Maroney injury prone and Seymour over the hill. Deus was wrong on all counts, so he put me on ignore because he could not stand my scathing posts ( that proved him wrong 95 percent of the time).

Homers are a funny bunch.

How would they be completely different??? I'm sorry but even if he made those catches...was he going to score a TD on any of them??? How do you logically say a play would make a difference if it doesnt have a possibility to put six on the board???

No way. Jammer had excellent coverage on both and the ball was thrown to a spot which was not ideal. You might be able to say an elite WR like Randy COULD have caught those, but the word "should" does not apply. Saying "should" makes it sound like he dropped one while wide open.

Please tell me you're kidding with this post..... Just using the first one you should be able to see where there would be a significant change.

Meh. I am a homer and I don't think Cassell is very good. This OMG your a homer bit is old. Some people don't really know football and evaluate talent poorly. It has nothing to do with being a "homer."

I doubt BB thinks Cassell is very good - he likely thinks he is just better then O'Connell at this point. I imagine he thought - hey if Tom Brady is out we aren't winning a championship so why invest a lot in a backup QB?

It's a calculated risk and it will hurt him this year but there is always next year..

The truth is despite the urge to blame everyone else on the team the QB is a critical player. He makes the defense better by keeping the offense on the field. The effect there can be pretty dramatic. He makes the running game better because the passing game becomes a threat. The entire team players better because they have confidence in their leader..

Like i said before you have to be logical about this..

Did a good defense, good OL, great (maybe the greatest ever offense) all turn to ****? it's unlikely. It's far more logical to think the problem is the one variable that changed.. I expect Cassell to rebound some from this but it will be interesting to see if he plays in the second half of the season.

Yeah...by your logic Moss should have leaped for the ball...and his leap would have been a 20+ yard leap so he comes down with the ball in the end zone...LMAO...all right..i'm done debating you...you just dont make sense Deus...your opinions lack logic or credibility...

Simple question...... If Moss catches the ball and falls down at that immediate spot, what's the situation then? Is if 4th and 40 from the New England 14? Is it 2nd and 10 from the San Diego 36? What's the situation?

Now, what was the situation as a result of the incompletion? Are there any differences?

Matt Cassel's an imperfect QB who's inherited an imperfect team. I'm not sure what we expect a backup QB to do with that. There are far more problems than just Cassel and those problems are just Enormous without Brady, who spackled all those little cracks and holes we have so nicely.

Cassel's a backup-I don't expect to see him fixing problems that have existed since before he took center stage-and I wouldn't expect to see a rookie like O'C fix them either.

That said, against a team like the Rams for example, I wouldn't mind seeing O'C get in there at the half for some solid playtime.

Down the road if this team looks like it's hopeless I'd rather throw cassel (who'll likely be gone next year anyway) out there to get thrown around like a rag doll every week than our draft pick future QB O'C.

Who the heck cares about the "what if spots of the ball"??? The question is would he have scored a TD on that play? The answer is NO!!! So how could you say that the play would be a difference maker???

Bottom line to me Cassell is just not a very good QB
Sure If Brady was out for 3 or 4 games - putting Cassell
in isnt the worst thing in the world- hope to win a game or 2 out of 4.
But having him being the General on the offense for a whole season?
and expect the team to be any type of semi serious contender is delusional at best!

BB having all Raw Rookie QB's Behind Brady was a mistake and is a mistake!
If the team was a young and slowly improving type team looking to reach a 500 season and some respectabilty then having a rookie at QB isnt a bad decision have him grow with the team!

But thats not the case with this team!
They needed a vet Backup and im not talking about for just this season!

Because whether he would have scored a TD on that play is not the question.

impossible. welcome to my ignore list

this might be your smartest post in the whole thread.

Seriously, game day threads seem to have the same theme every week. Cassel sucks......Yet, no one ever offers any solid proof that he does. I love it when someone says, "he looks at his recievers too long", or "he can't hit Moss in stride".....He can hit Welker in stride, so I don't think its an accuracy issue. Does he miss some throws? Well duh, so does Tommy. Is he getting the same amount of time that Tommy was getting last year? Nope. Is he nervous in the pocket? what, like YOU wouldnt be.

Bottom line, the whole team lost, not just the QB. As the famous saying goes, "after a loss, the most popular player on a team is the backup qb"

Because whether he would have scored a TD on that play is not the question.

What the heck does this remark mean???

Spit it out..what are you saying??? What is the question then?

Re: The Pats NEED to start O'Connell next week..Cassel just cant cut it

Did your knee hit the table after it jerked like that?

Some people around here are getting a little out of hand.
