Can one player throw another?

Two back set, one guy is a 375lb hammer-throw specialist, the other guy is a really tough little man (midget or jockey) wearing a strong belt. Hand off to the little guy, big guy grabs his belt, spins and chucks him over the line.

Gain of 5-7 yards every time.

You would need to have depth in the little guy RB postion.

The problem isn't the NFL rules. It's that dwarf tossing is illegal in some states, not to mention banned by the UN:

Thanks for the wiki info on illegality of dwarf tossing I think the law is about doing this in bars... I don't know if it would apply in this case.

It did say that the penalty was revoking of liquor license. So the technique could only be used during away games.

Also, apparently the world record is only 4 yards and a little bit... that's a bit dissappointing, but even at 3 yards EVERY time, you move the chains down the field and score.

That's 8 guaranteed away-game wins ... and you could rest up some of your "skill" players.

They should've done that with Flutie instead of the drop-kick.

It must be legal; Peyton Manning throws teammates under the bus all the time.

...goes to you. This is an interesting question. It is definately illegal to push a team mate with the ball forward (tho it happens all the time). But what is the essential difference between a push and a throw? We need a Talmudic opinion...PatJew?

It is illegal for an offensive player to assist the ballcarriers forward progress. So No, you can not throw a midget teamate threw the air. (IF he dropped the ball, would it be an incomplete pass?)

It is also illegal to launch yourself in the air by using a teammate as a base for your launching (meaning you can not run up behind the defensive line and jump on thier backs and then into the air).

Of course Bill Polian reserves the right to change these rules whenever the Colts are adversely effected by them.

Both feet leave the ground for 1 second or more = throw.
Otherwise = push.
So let it be written, so let it be done.

Too bad about that rule. You could throw a baby (with the ball velcro'd to his nightshirt) a good 30-40 yards.

Yep. Fastball special. Coined by Wolverine with Colossus being the one to throw him. They used it twice in the current X-Men movie.

Talk about an uninforced rule. How many times have you seen one or more offensive lineman run into the pile when their RB gets stacked up? Happens all the time. I guess if they are carefull to engage only the defenders, it would still be legal.... but usually they just get behind the RB and push forward.

I know this is not what is meant by throwing a person but the first thing I thought of when I read the title to this thread was SB38. David Givens grabbed Ricky Manning and just tossed him aside and recieved a pass from Brady for a first down. Funny as hell.

This thread definitely wins the Bill Veeck award for most creative use of a midget (or dwarf, or little person if you really want to get politically correct.)
