Belichick denies tampering with Moss

This actually makes alot of sense here and would explain why BB and Davis view the events differently. If Lombardi did in fact do that than Davis may have just felt that it was tampering and now a year later he has convinced himself BB tampered. All the while BB knows he did nothing of the sort.

Anyway lets just hope this thin goes away because we all know how the media likes to act :spygate:

oww, so Davis knew that the pats knew that moss could run...and yet only gave him up for a 4d rounder?

if the pats were so sure, i think he would have upped the pick...

Haha tampering haha

same with other media outlets saying "patriots mum on tampering allegations"
.Can someone tell me if its still tampering if the trade has actually happened between the two teams.?

Well, they could say that Moss refused to go anywhere except New England, which seems to have actually happened. But not based on them working him out.

By all accounts, the trade discussions never began until the night after day 1 of the draft. When was BB supposed to go down to Florida to work him out? Even Moss said that he flew into Boston from Houston after contact from the night before.

As I said earlier, Moss worked out in front of someone and ran a 4.29 or whatever it was. Somebody saw it, somebody BB trusts. It might have been Lombardi. That's treason by Lombardi but it's certainly not tampering.

He was impressed with Al Davis' press conference?

Well, that makes one person. Two if you count Davis.
Plus JT the Brick on national radio carrying Al Davis' water. What a strunz.

Al Davis is NUTS!!!

The Raiders gave Moss permission to talk to other teams about a possible trade back in early April, before the draft. He talked with both NE and GB.

Davis then went on to trade Moss to NE for a 4th rounder. Not a complaint out of him about it at the time... in fact, his coaches were calling Moss washed up... suggesting he had lost a step, etc.

Now, Davis want to acuse NE of tampering?

INSANE!

Tampering normally occurs when a player is going to become a FA, but is currently under contract. His team is trying to work out a deal with him. A rival team has contact with him in secret, usually offering a better deal so that he will reject the current team's offer. That is tampering.

How do you tamper with a player under contract and not becoming a FA? His current team can just keep him rather than trade him. Not to mention, they had already given him permission to find a trade partner.

I think Al is just pissed that they were wrong about Moss and have egg on their face. He is also pissed about Lamont Jordon coming to us. He is also trying to divert attention away from his failures which have led to the sacking of the head coach in the very same interview as this inane accusation.

This story is unreal. Can any old Bastard how owns a team come out and make a accusation like this? If that is the case, and the League investigates and finds nothing (which they will have will since it was a TRADE), ...then the Raiders should be penalized and we should receive a pick as compensation. The Patriot product has suffered again.

I think you nailed it, I had forgotten all about the LaMont Jordan signing.

Davis was pissed that he had been fleeced by the Pats in the Moss trade and told Jordan's agent he could sign with any team except the Pats or Broncos. Apparently Al forgot that once you cut a player he becomes a free agent and can sign anywhere he wants to.

Connect the dots and it's not out of the realm of possibility that Davis is so vindictive that the tampering allegation was just his way of getting 'even' with the Pats for having the audacity of first putting Moss in a position to have a good season, and then signing a free agent running back that the Raiders had locked out of camp for several months.

I can't believe this made front page of nfl.com. Even non-Pats fans must be sick of it already.

I find it absolutely amazing that fans posting on a messageboard did their research to find the TRUTH, while our illustrious MEDIA didn't even bother.
ALL MEDIA SUCKS. They are useless TRASH and they ARE ALL LOSERS!

Well does that surprise you? They have been looking and looking for something to pin on BB this year....and with the fall out of the Raiders, they thought, lets go after the Patriots...they haven't been in the news lately....

:scream::deadhorse:

That's very sad if that's their reason for being so lazy. I guess I expected too much.

Well they dont have any "...gate" crap this year so time to get creative....hmm....how about Belichecks past or his personal issues that TMZ will love to get a hold of.....

Bottom line is the mediots will stop at nothing to get the Patriots back in the media spot light so they can keep getting paid....

Well at least they can't HOUND THEM with all that undefeated crap this year. :singing:
That will be another team's cross to carry. Our Pats are the team that everyone loves to hate I guess, but I just don't like lazy reporting.

Everyone knows that Al Davis is a complete geriatric head case now. Absolutely no one will take him seriously, dude thinks he can fool everyone because he's gotten away with so much crap before. Pats fan has nothing to worry about as far as this thing getting any traction. BB doesn't give a rat's ass what Al Davis says anyway.

This is hilarious... this makes the front of espn.com and nfl.com, but the part of the PC where Al accuses Shanahan of cheating the salary cap and that he should have asterisks is nowhere to be found? Where is that 'story' on ESPN? What a joke.

ESPN.....joke.....YUP.....

Our team is like a light bulb on a warm summer night that attracts flies and moths.

No surprise. The media is just picking, and choosing what they want to report, as always. I hate that it keeps happening to the Pats, but there's nothing we can do about it.

I think that about a half dozen or so of the already loose screws in Al Davis' head finally fell out...the newsconference was a sad event for a proud franchise and a man who helped shape the modern NFL. I hope he has people around him who can get him off the stage with dignity.
