Now look at this poll and base it on WITHOUT being a Patriots fan because our Patriots fans hearts all say YES easily for all that he has accomplished here for 15 years.

But view it and pick your selection as just being an NFL Football fan with no particular favorite team.

So the question remains...

Is Troy deserving of the NFL HOF in Canton? or more just in the Patriots Hall Of Fame which he is a lock for?.

No.

No, but he should be. If stats were given equal weight to personality, leadership or pure football instinct and skill, he'd be a first-balloter. There should be more kids and players in the NFL aspiring to be Troy Brown. What else is the Hall for?

In an emotional moment, Brown’s son, who was crying, asked the final question. “If you love the game so much, why are you retiring?” Brown looked his son in the eyes and said, “I would love to keep playing, but there comes a time when the man upstairs … you can’t outrun God. He tells you you’re 37. Your knee is supposed to be hurting. Your hip is hurting. There are a bunch of 22-year-olds taking your place. There are very few places for guys 37, 38 years old. You just have to move on and craft other goals. It’s a sad day for me, too. … Daddy still loves football.”

Troy Brown is a folk hero and a Patriot HOFer.

He is not close to being an NFL HOFer. Not even close.

LOL no chance in heck. Love troy but not even close.

I agree - For the main reason being he was so 'under the radar' all these years most people outside of NE disrespected all he gave for his team

No. This is 100% wrong. He is not HOF bound because he is not good enough.

This.

2000-2002 were his best years and only one of those was even Pro Bowl worthy.

Of course a beloved legend in all of our hearts but this question is just crazy.

If I could put hm in the HOF, I would, but he doesn't have HOF #'s and he is a Patriot of course, which means they'll hold that against him.

I know we are all diehard patsfans but come on now....Troy Brown in the hall of fame? Look at his career stats compared to other WR's during his time and he does not compare. Don't get me wrong, his leadership, versatility, toughness, etc. are huge reasons we won 3 superbowls but lets be serious....I certainly appreciate and understand that not everything shows up on the stat sheet but lets be realistic...

I can't believe this is real. Don't get me wrong - I LOVE Troy, but Canton? Come on. Pat HOF'er for sure.

def. not but he'll go down as one of the pats all time greats

He could make it in Canton on an off year where there isn't as many big names that can be voted on.

Here is a link to his career stats:
Troy Brown

These simply are not even close to hall of fame numbers no matter how much weight you give to intangibles/versatility and any other "unmeasurable" attribute

Lynn Swann was one of the most controversial entries into the HOF as a WR with not spectacular stats but I guess he caught the big catches when they counted.

Lynn Swann's stats are still much better than Brown and he played 6 less years and played during an era and a team that was run/defense orientated...I hate for it to sound like im knocking Troy Brown cause that is not my intention...he is just not going to canton

I made the poll and voted NO myself but just wanted to see where all fans of Troy Brown actually went with it

Lynn Swann's talent was mindblowing. He was unique. He had a distinctive style which I haven't seen duplicated. His explosion, hands, ability to catch in traffic and track the deep ball were amazing. He is a no doubt HOFer. It was a different era before the passing rules changed. He was much more talented than Marvin Harrison. If he were playing with today's rules he would put up sick numbers.

I saw an argument in another forum which argued that Haywood Jeffries had the better stats in his career than Swann and should have made it in - Thats a reach even though Jeffries did have the better stats of the 2 but like I said, Swann made the big catches in big games and that does make a difference.

But Swann sucks as a politician - Better suited for a HC position
