I sh!t you not, the first Patriots game I ever went to was Tom Brady's first ever start in 01 against the colts when we blew them out, it was also my first nfl game I went to since then I don't even know how many I've gone to. I still have the ticket!

The first game that I attended was the Pats very first game
against Denver. I was quite excited when Billy Sullivan was awarded
the franchise and followed all their transations as the team was formed.
Lou Saban looked at hundreds of prospects and was very unforgiving.
If a player made a mistake in an exhibition game, he was gone on Monday morning.

I attended the game with my uncle who was retired. The parking was so limited
that we had to park in the Kenmore Square area. I nearly gave
him a heart attack running to the game. We got there just after the game
had started.

As for the game itself, the Pats lost the game when Chuck Shonta
tried for an interception and missed. This lead to a long pass
play and a game winning field goal.

Much to the consternation of my wife, I remain a Patriot's nut to
this day. If I stay on this website too long, she gives me a hard time.

1965 Fenway Park vs Oakland. Got a free trip up and back on Eastern Airlines that day.

Think I still have the program some where. It was a great day. I got paid for going to Boston and seeing a Pats game.

The first preseason game held whne Schaefer Stadium opened. Parked a couple of miles away due to the massive traffic jam. At the time end zone season tickets were $45 for 2 preseason games and 7 regular season games. Beautiful summer day had a blast with my litle brother.

Also attended the contest for kickers the Sports Huddle held at the old harness racing track wherer the fans selected John Smith to get a tryout for kicker. Can't imagine that sort of thing happening anymore...

The first Pats game I attended was @ Buffalo in 2004. It got a little tight at the end until the Pats scored a defensive TD to put it away late.

My first game in NE was the season opener in 2005 vs. the Raiders. Being from upstate NY, never in my life before had I been surrounded by fellow Pats fans. It truly was a great feeling.

My fist New England game live was during the start of the Brady era. It was the Pats/Colts game. We sat as far as possible from the field, we got the tickets by luck so we didnt really have a choice on seats.

I still remember thinking, man my first game and were are going to get killed by the Colts. Ofcourse, we all know what happened, we crushed the Colts that day and went on to the SB.

I always felt happy knowing that I was there when Tom's rise really began.

From 1982-1986 I was in the band at UMASS Amherst and we got invited to do the 1/2 time show once a year (except for 1985 when the Pats were good and they didn't have room to let the band members sit in the end zone). I'm ashamed to say I don't really remember the games themselves. The Pats weren't very good then and we were usually rehearsing during the 1st half, and I don't think they won any of them. One year the opponent was the Raiders and they swore at us and threatened us puny band members when our show ran a little over and we were still on the field when they came out for the 2nd half. Another year The Wave was just starting to become popular, and after about 5 tries from a very exuberant member of the band, it actually went around the whole stadium (1st time I and many people had ever seen it - now it's so commonplace). The players actually stopped and watched it go around the stadium. That was cool.

Been a season ticket holder since 1993 and have seen too many good games to post (and very few stinkers, come to think of it - gave away my tickets last week, thank God!!). My favorite at home has to be the Snow Bowl. Between the weather, us being there at all and the outcome, it was so surreal. Thanks for the memories, NE Pats!!

Took a red-eye from Vancouver to Toronto last Oct. 4. Then a twin turbo to Providence. Stayed at the Super 8 in North Attleboro on Rte. 1. It was bloody hot that weekend. Took in the outlet mall in Wrentham. Went to the Brown vs. Holy Cross game on Saturday. It is still a surreal moment for me driving north on rte. 1 Sunday morning seeing the traffic and Gillette. Hung around the Stadium for 3 hours before the game taking in tailgates, the Pro-shop the pre game radio show with Zolak et al. We beat the Browns that day 34-17. Stallworth got his first TD as a Pat. That Sunday also started off bloody cold but was nice by the end of the game.

Going again this Dec. 7 in Seattle. Shorter trip.

The only time I went to the old stadium was for a Pats/Eagles preseason game in August 96. Man, those aluminum seats could heat up pretty quickly. :D

My first game at the new place was against Buffalo when Bruschi came back from his stroke. Totally worth the 6 hour drive from Jersey. The place just went nuts when Bruschi got his first tackle on Roscoe Parrish's failed end around.

My first Pats game was an awful loss in 2000 to the Jets at Giants Stadium (ha). We were up 19-6 I think in the 4th quarter.

Same here old man.......I was 8 years old when my Dad took me to that first ever Pats game...I do remember the last second FG and loss with the horizontally striped sock Bronco's - hated that team then and hat 'em now.

I have been to well over 300 home and about 25 away games since.

Broncos are my most hated team in the NFL. It all started back then when I was negative 24 years old. No it really started with Sharpe calling the national guard but all their success vs us had me disliking them already and this comment put them to the top.

I was 28 when I attended that game which probably makes me the

old man on this forum. I moved from Mass. to Maine in 1976 but I still

try to attend a game or two each year. When I had my season's tickets

from 1971-1975, they cost a total of $80 for two tickets for the season.

Those were the days.

First ever Patriots Game @ Schaefer stadium in September of 71 if my memory serves me right. Rookie QB Jim Plunkett against the big bad Oakland Raiders. The one I remember most was the Giants preseason game of that year which was the first ever game @ Shaeffer, Fran tarkenton, toilet problems and a tremendous traffic jam. Didn't get out of the parking lot until 4:30 a.m and I wasn't even tailgating! Those were the days, I had hair and a normal size prostate.

Patriots-Oilers 1975

My two favorite sport teams. Although I guess it is a bit odd that a football team would play a hockey team. But I guess the 70s were a crazy time and I was still yet to be born.:wha:

My first game was the first preseason game in Gillette stadium. My father-in-law had season tickets and let me have them for that game.

Ian went with me. The seats turned out to be horrible... the railings blocked the view to the field. It was easier to watch the game standing up in the concourse or on the bridge.

Ian wrote an article about it for the site as I recall.

Other than the bad seats, I had a great time and I thought the new stadium was amazing.

I also got to go to the first regular season game in Gillette stadium against the Steelers. Fantastic game!

My first ever trip to Gillette Stadium was indeed with Lloyd Christmas, and I had an unbelievable time. He and his brother were great hosts and we had fun tailgating outside the stadium before the game. He's probably the oldest member, as I've been lucky enough to know him from the time I first had a website. That was back when I used to get excited to see that 10 people per day would come by to actually look at it. Which is why I appreciate the fact everyone is here. It's boring as anything to have a site no one visits, so I don't take this for granted one bit.

As for the seats, I didn't think they were bad at all. With the exception of the picture I posted in the article, you could see just fine. Let's face it, on big plays and key points of the game you stand up anyway, so not a big deal.

Here was the article from that day:

New England Patriots Coverage: Gillette Stadium Doesn't Disappoint

If you click on my profile you'll see a gallery which has the other pictures I took from that day as well.

So thank you again Lloyd for inviting me. I appreciate it! :D

Ian
