They get a week off to stew about their loss to the Dolphins. How insufferable will Bill Belichick be now?

Pats: #15 (Last Week: 5)
Randy Moss has caught just 19 passes for 257 yards and two TDs over his past six games (including playoffs).

The season can go south in a hurry if they don't shake off the humiliating loss to the Dolphins. The Patriots have lost their mojo without Tom Brady. They better find an infusion from another source straight away.

Quick, nobody look while we whisk Cassel's Patriots into the pre-teens. New England's' regular season run of 21 straight wins came to an end in a crushing 25 point home loss to the Miami Dolphins-- who were ironically the last team to beat the Patriots in the regular season. With Chad Pennington lining up at receiver all day, the Patriots couldn't stop Ronnie Brown (133 yards rushing, 4 rushing TD's); even though they knew the run was coming. And just when New England looked ready to pounce on the run, Ronnie Brown burned them with a 19 yard TD pass. Adding insult to injury, Williams nearly broke the 100 yard rushing mark as well. Of course Patriots' fans are going to want to continue Brady's streak of regular season wins when he comes back next season. They can start at 20 since Brady played some against the Chiefs. But the real question Patriots' fans need to ask is-- can New England win in San Francisco their next game (week 5)???

The pressure is on their older leaders to help the team regroup from the embarrassing and shocking loss to Miami. It's good they have many, but is age finally catching up to 35-year-olds Tedy Bruschi and Rodney Harrison?

Forget Matt Cassel; the defense was miserably bad.

where is msn?

We deserve to be 32. After all, we should be. A 1-15 team just stomped us out. Who else can we compete against if we can't hang with the worse of the worse?

Is there any way to ban trolls posing as Patriots fans? Fake Pats fans posting this BS is worse than trolls who actually have the stones to admit they are fans of other teams.

I am glad I am not the only one to think that about this troll......:banned:

I love Dr. Z's comments about the Colts:

Defense is kaputski against the run, and I'm tired of hearing about Bob Sanders being out. He's out more than he's in, and they've gone 20-6 in those out games. Enough already. He's a good player but he doesn't walk on water.

I think it is funny because many in the media seems to go out their way to make excuses for the Colts and are praying and hoping that they turn it around and become a dominant team again. More so than any other team.

I agree with espn, we are the 6th and the colts are 7th best teams in the AFC at the moment. Given our schedule, we should make the playoffs.

Personally, I don't know if there is a definitive ranking for the Pats since the team is still a bit of an egnigma. I see anywhere in the 6-10 range might work, but I can't really make strong argument against any spot in the 11-15 spots either.

I think you and ESPN have the Colts too high though (Not surprising for ESPN because they love the Colts almost as much as they hate the Pats). The Colts run defense is bad and it won't get much better barring a trade for some DTs. I don't think their offense strong enough to keep them in games this year like in previous years that their defense sucked. I can see them losing 4-6 of their next eight games with Baltimore, Green Bay, Tennessee, Pittsburgh, New England, and San Deigo on their schedule in that stretch. I think by November, the Colts could be in the middle to bottom half of the league.

Forget about Cassel, fix the defense first.

Now there is the Matt Cassel that I was waiting for. Watching Mighty Matt during the preseason he looked lost and had no idea how to read NFL coverages. So I found it odd that, even in a blowout, Bill Belichick chose to bench Cassel in favor of Kevin O'Connell when Cassel clearly needs all the reps he can get. The Patriots defense was showing signs of aging last year and I think they will wear down over the rest of the year. New England is actually hurt by having its bye week this early.

Has everyone picked up their jaws off the floor yet? These are the Patriots, so one bad loss can be excused after four Super Bowl appearances in the last eight seasons. Bill Belichick's got to be able to adjust, right? Right? COOL STAT: After scoring 20+ points in every regular-season game en route to an NFL single-season record 589 points last season, the Pats rank 26th in scoring in '08 and have yet to score 20 in a game.

Let's not write them off after one weirdie, OK? I did get a kick out of Bill Belichick's regular Monday press conference, though. You know something? I could have answered those questions and I wasn't even there.

Bill Simmons
Pats Rankings: #11 (Last Week: N/A)
To recap: Bill Belichick's theory that everyone on a football team can be replaced at any time is absolutely true ... as long as you're not replacing Tom Brady with Matt Cassel. I appreciate Brady's talents for the QB position even more than I did three weeks ago, and I'm the same guy who once caused a blog to post a fake video of me swooning over Brady on YouTube. Last week's Miami game was like watching one of the Andrettis climb out of the best possible Indy 500 car and turn it over to some drunk guy in the stands. It has just been cruel. Whether you loved the 2007 Pats or despised them with every fiber in your body, you have to admit, you weren't turning the channel when they were on offense. Now you do. Alas. (P.S.: Don't worry about me, I'm fine. I'm just gambling more. Everything can be solved by gambling and fantasy. How do you think I got through the Rod Rust and **** MacPherson Eras?)

If Bill Simmons made threads here they'd all be 1-star for not being 100% Pro Pats

Wow! Football Locks is a joke, isn't it. The Pats win against the 49ers isn't worthy of a move up eventhough they dominated a team with 2 wins. So they stay a 16. The Colts sweak by an 0-4 team missing their starting QB who dominated them for 3 1/2 quarters and gave away the football game with stupid play by Sage Rosenfels and they move up from 13 to 9? Heck, they even had the Jets jump two spots on a bye week. The Eagles moved up after losing.

I think power rankings are a joke to begin with, but when you see something like this you gotta scratch your head. You gotta wonder if the person/people doing the rankings actually know what they are talking about or just yahoo fans putting up a site.

BTW, Walter Football isn't much better. The Pats at 20? With a winning record?
