Wise Up and Give The Patriots a Mulligan

As for the Ronnie Brown option fiasco, it was maddening to see Pennington left unmolested as he lined up time and again as a wide receiver. Lining up Adalius Thomas across from him and giving the Miami quarterback the business would have forced Miami to pull the plug on their schoolyard antics in a hurry.

Amen.

<10>!

I do give them a Mulligan. They really did not show up for this one. That is not a valid excuse and it better not happen again like that but I agree that a Mulligan is in good form.

That is a Mulligan.

The defense is better than that.

The offense will be interesting.

Another Pink Hat heard from.

"Oh no, how dare anyone boo my beloved Patriots? Waaahhh...It takes a village to cheer for our team...waaahhh...21 regular-season games in a row...waaahhh..."

21 wins in a row - just like 23 TD catches - mean absolutely jack squat unless those wins - and those TD catches - include Playoffs. I'd rather a 13-7 SB Winner than a 18-1 SB Loser.

We had a chance not only for a place in NFL history, but also to stand alone in American sport immortality. That chance was blown forever - first in Indianapolis, then in Arizona. The bitter taste of reality, that what should have been ours will now never be ours, is very hard to swallow. So pardon us if we choose to express that disappointment by booing a performance that was garbage on all 3 levels: planning, effort & execution.

Yesterday, this team acted like a neighborhood bully whose bodyguard was taken away from him. In two weeks, we'll see if this no-longer-tough guy has learned to fight for himself.

Agree and the fact is there will probably be more Joey Porter type trash talking remarks in upcoming games and you know they might be right just like he was unless this team shows balls again and reacts to a player who ridicles the team instead of helping him keep his words by giving him clear sailing to the QB 3 times.

I see Patrick Willis licking his chops with 13 days still to go - Don't think he is in the league long enough for trash talking yet

Another entitled ignorant blowhard heard from...LOL

Oh wait, now there's two of them...I'm sure the other dozen will be along momentarily.

Since you like to call others all kinds of names..I have one for you.. PINK HEAD!!
The loud mouth so called fan who thinks he's so cool spouting off all kinds of bologna like he's BIG man on campus..pounding his chest with his Patriot jersy on "we has a chance"...We?? Myabe he's the mascot.but when it comes down to the nitty gritty..and this team changes..Brady Belichick gone..and the team not doing all that well,
this fan will have his behind far away from the team..He won't be bothered with a LOSING team.. cut and run and and latch on to a winner..Yes..he's really a fan..hear him loudly!! But in those far off days he will be gone..nowhere around..showing what a true fan he is.

Give the Patriots a mulligan? I wish I would have thought of that!

It was a Trap game. We fell into it. Nothing more - Nothing less.

San Francisco will pay dearly in 2 weeks.

I'm a pretty good golfer, and when I use the coveted mulligan, it's right after a crappy shot, which I then immediately follow-up up with a string of obscenities for my mental/physical lapse that led to the crappy shot. I regroup, and then generally follow-up with a nice shot down the middle.

90% of the booing, whining about the sh!t play and silliness that I've seen on here should be considered a "string of obscenity". Inside a week, we will have calmed down and be ready to take another swing (at SF).

So yeah, we'll give this team a mulligan, but please allow us to be entitled to the customary MFing that always results from what leads to having to take one in the first place.

Most fans a are disgusted at the performance, and they should be. That does not mean that they won't be doom and gloom the rest of the way. This doesn't include the a-holes out there, there will always be the stupid "Should we tank the season" thread starters. I'm talking about the average fan here.

We all need to relax. There are probably going to be more days like Sunday.
I expect it. The minute we lost Brady, I expected this season to be a tough one. I've said it many times, we take Brady for granted around here. I'm guilty of it. Sunday was a reality check for all of us. If we are expecting perfection, forget it. If we are expecting Matt Cassel to run this offense with the same expertise as Brady, forget it. Our defense isn't as bad as they looked on Sunday. I expect a much better performance when we play San Francisco. The offense is a work in progress. Matt has to find his comfort zone and the rest of the offense has to find their comfort zone with him. We have to remember, THIS IS BRADY'S OFFENSE. All of these guys are used to playing with him. Moss built a strong chemistry with Brady. It is VERY clear
that he doesn't have that same chemistry with Cassel. Heck, the entire offense has no chemistry with him. It's been a long time since I've seen our offense so inconsistent. Let's Relax and let these guys figure it out. There is a lot of football left to be played.
YES! They get a Mulligan from me. They got it the minute that we lost our best player for the season.

I'm good with that, but I would like to see some better results in the future...even if they lose,if the game was close I can live with it.What sticks in my craw(and many others I believe)is the option/single wishbone offence play, that fools'em five times....once even twice, not so bad,but five times???

Was 1 Mulligan thread not good enough for you?

This is an article not a thread. Far different than the poll thread that we have. I was just joking about not thinking about the "mulligan thing".

I didn't get a chance to talk about the defense. I agree with you 100%, but I find it hard to believe that our defense is that bad. After the performances in the first two games, I just don't believe that they are that bad. I say give Miami their props. They had a good game plan, and it worked to perfection. I'll bet money that scheme won't work against our Defense again. I hate to do it, but I lay the blame for some of what happened on our defensive Coaching staff. We have a very good coaching staff, but they laid an Egg on Sunday. I don't believe that our coaching staff is incompetent, but they are human. Everybody has a bad day every now and then.

I think most fans have given the team a mulligan on this game, but you have to admit that unless Cassell gets an epiphany this offense is not going to be scoring a lot of points. So if they are playing from behind its most likely going to be a loss

we were not ready for a loss in the regular season and not used to a loss given that we had won 21 regular season games in a row. Once the shock and awe wears off people will be ready once again for the next game.. we even have 2 weeks to get over it
