I think we had more control of Manning then the fish had with Cassel.. Not that would make much of a difference, but the game was not the same after that play..

Are we heading the Jets fans route of claiming Parcells bought the refs off?

I agree though. I think Matt was pi$$ed. I was too. It sure looked similar. Still, I don't think he makes the EZ if there were no whistles.

Cassel was nowhere near being sacked when the whistles blew - it was an awful call.

Still, he wouldn't have made it into the EZ if there wasn't a whistle.

This was the first thing I thought of, too. And it still makes me sick we lost that game, especially with a freakin judgement call like that.

That whitstle ughhh!! Cassel wasn't anywhere near in tremondous trouble. I thought the same thing about that Eli play, no whistle on that one, but a whistle on this one. Doesn't make sense

The Jets had the chance to bury your team. I think the answer is clear. Miami did what they had to do!

I understand the logic behind the rule--no sense in getting a QB injured if the play's basically over--but, seriously, WTF? There needs to be some consistency from game to game.

The in the grasp rule is one of the worst rules in the NFL. It is completely subjective and it opens the refs up for guessing calls like this one.

Hold the phone. Wait. I just ate a bowl of drugs. I didn't really FEEL the thread title.

What's the difference...? We're all on a level playing field and the Jets didn't kill NE because we suck more than Miami? I get that. Yet, your team lost an AFCE game to MIAMI. And that hurt ME more than it will ever hurt YOU.

And they made that call based on seeing Favre get dragged 20 yards and slammed in our game with the JETS last week. You can't have that rule unless you go all the way to touch football where the QB is concerned or treat every QB alike. Because refs are using perception when applying the rule. They expect gunslingers to escape and pocket passers to get sacked.

Reading comprehension. Apparently, it's not for everyone.

I hate Biteball, and your city owns that epic collapse. However, own that your football team got beat fair and square. If your Coach wasn't under the microscope, yes, Eli WOULD have been called in the grasp, which would have been a horrible call. Why didn't St. Someone Made Up Right There On The Spot send a bolt of lightning to negate the catch and everything that to do with it?

Dude...you haven't made any sense yet. At all. What are you on?

The difference is that today the refs got the call right and blew the whistle.

the difference? same as it was since the playoffs in 05...(just switch names)

cassel plays FOR the pats, where areas manning played AGAINST the pats

it may be the ONLY consistency officials show

Didn't like the call..it was way too quick..I've seen many times QBs in the grasp a LOT more and the refs swallow the whistle..it was bad...
BUT..it just set a tone of bad tings to happen..

Are you still here? Nobody sounds to be looking to say the Pats would have won today but for that call.

Realize losses are so infrequent with the Patriots that the fans struggle with the concept. We don't have the benefit of 4 decades of crappy performances that the Jets have sustained to condition us for this sort of thing. Your team was terrible yesterday, it is terrible today and given the front office decisions it will be worse tomorrow.

I suggest you go to the Jets forum and kick off the whining there early. Assume you will lose to the Bolts tomorrow night (that outcome is as inevitable as the tides), and work through the hopelessness that is the life of the Jets fan.

I completely agree. It's past time to sack the In-the-Grasp rule.
