McClover has been claimed by the Texans.

Besides some of the aforementioned, others whom I would like to see brought to Foxborough, for at least a workout:

WR Mike Hass
WR David Ball
WR Paul Raymond
S Josh Gattis
S Stuart Schweigert
LT Anthony Alabi

And I would really like to see the following return to Foxborough:
John Lynch
Mike Flynn
John Welbourn
Victor Hobson
Chad Jackson
Fernando Bryant - hey, who else is out there?

I think everyone on your list has a shot but Chad Jackson is a goner - I think Troy Brown would be signed before Chad was brought back in for another season of pure crap

I wouldn't mind a Troy Brown return.

Heck, let's bring in Tim Dwight for a workout. He was Welker before Welker was Welker.

I noticed that rookie DT Dre Moore was released by Tampa. He was one of the guys under my consideration at #94, because I believe that - based on his speed/agility #s at the combine - he could transition to 3-4 DE. He's similar in some ways to Ty Warren.

Tampa hasn't released its list of PS signings, but I would be very surprised if Moore is not signed to it if he goes unclaimed.

Harrington is MUCH better than Cassell in my opinion.
It's not even close.

Your opinion doesn't count. Bill Belichick's does, and he disagrees with you. In fairness Bill may not think much of Cassel, but as in every other business, you do the best that you can, with waht you have. Cassel is the best of what's available.

Would he like to have Peyton Manning as the backup to Brady? Of course. But it isn't ever going to happen.

Comprising the Bucs practice squad is: wide receiver Brian Clark, tight end Daniel Fells, cornerback Marcus Hamilton, defensive tackle Dre Moore, running back Clifton Smith, wide receiver Micheal Spurlock, cornerback Brandon Sumrall and guard Julius Wilson.

Joining these players on the practice squad is safety Sergey Ivanov. As a part of the NFL International Practice Squad Program, Ivanov will not count against the eight-man practice squad roster.

The team also signed offensive tackle James Lee to the active roster. Lee takes the roster spot that was opened up with the release of veteran cornerback Eugene Wilson. The Cleveland Browns signed Lee as an undrafted rookie free agent in May. The South Carolina State product started 31 of 33 games there and was released by the Browns on Aug. 30.

Thanks, jmt.

Another player I failed to mention is OG Evan Mathis, ex-Carolina. He was very well-regarded out of Alabama in the '05 draft, never missed a snap, and had a great combine & Wonderlic. TFY/Scout.com, for ex., rated him a m/l 2nd-round talent. He only played one game last year, so there may be an injury issue to investigate.

Pats had Mathis in for a workout today per Reiss: http://www.boston.com/sports/football/patriots/reiss_pieces/2008/09/pats_host_3_on.html

Thanks for the link, BPF.

So it must be true: great minds do think alike.

Another good link, BPF. I really like having a list - e.g: rosters, FAs by position, PSs - all on one page. It makes things much easier to track & compare, esp. with my slow-azz computer.

In order to make room for Geno, the Texans released OL Brandon Frye, who I had hoped would slip to the Pats at the end of the 5th round last year, where they selected...Clint Oldenburg. He was a LT at VA Tech, and would be a more viable option as Light's backup than anyone currently on the roster. At the very least, he has more upside than Levoir, Yates or Hochstein.

Thanks, jmt.

Miami signed your boy Mathis today according to A.Schefter.

Yeah, I saw that tonight on USAToday.com's transaction page.
