Screw the pink-hat wearing fair weather corporate fans. I'm in this for the long haul. I think the Jets will be surprised at how much better we are than the Dolphins. They are overconfident, and have no idea what they are in for. Our defense will punish all of Favre's risky plays, capitalize on every mistake.

I think we will keep the Jets to ten or fewer points. Favre will throw two or more interceptions.

I think that this would put ESPN into ruins....all of the so called sports journalists would be speechless on the air and have no idea what to do or write...

It would be beautiful.....

The would bash Brady as a system QB.

The would bash Brady as a system QB.

Except he prob won't have the completion stats, yardage and no interception stats that brady has. He may get the wins but he won’t get the numbers and since ESPN geeks are about numbers, they won’t be able to go back to that with Brady.

I'll be there down the wire. Funny tho I've lost my taste for watching all the other games. I'll just watch Patriots now.

Fan for Life, since '71.

I was here watching the Patriots on a black & white TV with no internet.
I was here when we were 1-15, and when we had McPherson & Rod Rust.

I'm going to be buried in a Patriots painted casket. :p

Damn Man!!! .........You're OLD!!!!! :)

i dont think that many people on this board are just the kind of casual fans that would give up on the pats so easily. theyre still a damn good team, its just that the expectations have been so high since brady took the helm that many people fear a return of the patsies. i dont think that will be the case and that many people here share that sentiment. people who go to games arent just gonna throw em away or sell em if they werent going to already for some reason... at least not in huge numbers.

the casual pats fans dont follow them this closely and come to this board to share analysis and talk about the team. im not saying that you arent a true pats fan if you arent a registered patsfan.com member, or being one guarantees the title of "true pats fan," but i just dont think people will give ups o easily on this team.

though i could be wrong, and certainly the board could/probably will be quieter than it was last year/season with trolls and people who joined, posted for a week or two, and havent been back since.

I say good riddance to all the bandwagoners who have left or are on their way out. I suffered through the '86 Super Bowl blowout and the 1-15 season as well. Here's to hoping that Cassell can turn into Brady Jr. :)

Not funny at all. I feel the same way, likely for the same reasons.

Even though Tom is not playing this year, as disappointing as that is, I am a Patriots fan not a Tom Brady fan. I have been through worse with the Patriots, as others have alluded to, so I am not going anywhere. We just have to put our trust that the team knows what they are doing. Perhaps Matt Cassel will get better with the more game situations that he is exposed to. We have a lot of talent on this team he is just one part of it.

Here's to the season ... Cheers...:eat3:

Oh GOD, I had almost completely removed that trauma from my memory, lol. I was so young then. :(

Not funny at all.
Funny as in, interesting, odd, wierd, because I used to love watching football, no matter what the team. Now I just want to watch mine.

Until Sunday the "season" was going to be somewhat boring. 16 meaningless games until the playoff run.

But now -

The "season" will be a journey to watch. To see players and coaches adapt to overcome adversity. It will be like watching a child grow. Hopes and fears abound and each step unknown and "scarry" but maybe - maybe the story will be amazing. And I will watch each step - cuz if I don't watch and miss out on each nuance of a story that "might" turn out to be amazing - then I would hate myself for missing it.

As a charter member of the bandwagon........I aint going anywhere.

Having "Jumped On The Bandwagon" 38 years ago ,My seat is well worn and warm !:singing: I hate The Jets! Time to kick some butt!

Buckle up your chinstraps, folks. If you think that the press and the other teams and fans are on our case now, just wait till the Patriots start winning...

If the Pats keep winning like I believe they will, the press will be like a rabid junkyard dog straining at the end of it's chain.

These are going to be exciting times for sure..

GO PATS!

I am duty bound to respond to this thread so....

This kid ain't goin nowhere.
I still believe this will be a team
worth rooting for, no doubt.

Cassel will need to maintain his composure and find his open man.
The Pats have as good a shot as anyone else in this league even without Tom.

What a statement that would make, too.

In a strange way I am going to enjoy this season more than last season.

I found the whole "can they go 16 - 0" last season to be very stressful.

I expect the team to pull together and will be happy with whatever they accomplish.

Get well Tom.

#56300ex checking in, I generally don't say much, but I'm always here. I jumped on the Patriots bandwagon about 25 years ago when there were plenty of seats. This team won't lose me that easily.

Never in doubt.

This team is still one of the best in the NFL even without Brady. And it's going to be that much sweeter to hoist the trophy without our HOF QB behind center-- wont that make the talking heads shut the F up! It's not a one-player game. Football takes more than 22 players to dominate... more like 40 outstanding players.

It's good that we have 5 starting calibre RBs, because they're going to earn their keep this season. And the real upper is going to be how damn effective our play action passing game is going to be.

3rd and 2, Cassel under center in a 2 TE set. Sammie and Heath lined up in a power I and Moss far outside. Snap the ball, play action to Morris, Cassel with a quick pass to Moss on a slant for a 50 yard TD. Everyone thinks that's a play BB wouldn't call with Matt at Q. Wont they be surprised how much faith the brain trust has in a kid with exactly zero starts in his pro and college careers combined.

Cassel is going into his contact offseason, and is living the dream right now. If he can orchestrate all this talent into a few big plays, he's going to get a nice fat contract with a team like Denver or Seattle, we're going to get a nice Compensatory pick for him, and Belichick will advance his own legend-- the finest coach in the history of the sport.

The wildcard is Kevin O. There was a lot to like in the preseason. Maybe he earns his way onto the field...

This season is going to be as exciting to watch as 2001, where expectations were absent but the team seemed on the verge of something really special. I'm psyched.

I'm with all you guys who believe that we still have a fantastic team that will be able to contend this year
