Cassel and Brady, Physically the same?

The big issue isn't how good a QB is in the absence of a pass rush. Rather, the issue is how quickly his abilities drop off as the rush intensifies.

When it comes to an unhurried quarterback skills contest, Cassell is innocent until proven guilty. When it comes to performing under the pressure of an intense rush, he's guilty until proven innocent.

What if the patriots had a very good running game, and blitzing on one side might leave the other side open for maroney to do cutbacks for big gain? Maroney ripped it to the right and the zipped to the left for a huge gain last game.

Iam sure with the talent, physicall talent at WR corp, most teams will get burned if the blitz often.

What the big fu(king deal of how physically similar they are...

One has talent, the other does not
One has poise in the pocket, the other does not
One has pocket presence, the other does not
One can read defenses, the other does not
One actually went to college and played QB as a starter for a brief time, the other did not at all

Both fortunately have the same head coach in the NFL- Thats the only comparison I want to see between these two or its simply an insult to Brady

One has not been given a fair chance to prove himself until now. Remember Brady came out of no where, why cant cassel do the same?

So if cassel can run, then other teams will not play soft coverage this will allow welker or moss to get behind the coverage.

Iam really hoping that Cassel is mentally ready for every game, and get a lot of experience that will only help the patriots in the playoffs.

It's whAt's in Brady's head that counts.

ding ding ding....we have a winner! Comparing Cassel to Brady is apples to oranges.......Brady is a legend...Greatest QB of all time.......Cassel has yet to prove that he can play consistently in the league........
and hasn't played consistently since HIGH school.........

Look, I admire your optimism here but please face the facts. Your "they have the same physical attributes" argument and your "Brady got a chance and made it, why not Cassel?" statements could be applied to each and every QB out there. The fact of the matter is that Brady outperformed Bledsoe in the eyes of the coaching staff by playing exceptionally well in pre-season games and training camp. Yes, injury forced BB's hand giving Brady his "chance" as you call it but make mo mistake, this switch from Bledsoe to Brady was going to happen soon anyway, injury or no injury. You can't even remotely make that argument here with Cassel and Brady. Now I'm pulling hard for Cassel and hope he excels but please stop drawing comparisons between he and Brady. It's painful to read...

Yeah.....and now he is constantly talked about as being BETTER than Montana......amazing how things change in the league huh?

Your posts here are more insulting to Brady than comparisons to his backup...

They both have talent, one just has more than the other (or any other starting QB in the league for that matter)

They both have poise in the pocket, it's just that Brady is in a class of his own when it comes to pocket presence.

Cassel proved Sunday he could not only read defenses, but he could read them under pressure and make good decisions and throws.

Each was recruited by one of the top college programs in the country. One couldn't pass two Heismans, the other had to fight his way past politics and a highly recruited stiff. Either would have been a 4 year starter at say Eastern Illinois if that makes you feel better.

Bill Belichick moved them both up to #2 after their rookie seasons. And named them his starter when the franchise wnet down. And we all know what a football doofus Bill is.

Get over yourself.

Brady in the superbowl agaisnt the rams, can cassel play up to that level and better anytime this season???

Brady wasn't a legend in 2001. In fact according to his expert detractors the 6th round selection who threw sideways wasn't remotely in HOF bound Bledsoe's league, he was just a product of the system and the beneficiary of a well coached defense...

Cassel isn't Brady. But he was drafted because he had some of the same qualities in Bill's estimation - not the least of which was his football brain... Something sorely lacking in all of the candidates some are so eager for Bill to sign.

Cassel this year is not too far off from the talent level of Brady in 2001. Obviously Brady is much better than Cassel will ever be but he has grown a lot since 2001 to get to where he is now.

I think this team right now without Brady is as good or better than the 2001 SB winner.

Eli maning won the superbowl last year, and he wasnt like insane in the membrane.

I think Tom's arm is very good. I saw on one of those NFL QB's contest he one the long throw contest. So he can chuck it pretty far..

I haven't seen enough of Cassell. It's amazing he is on the team, IMHO. Maybe Bill knows something I don't. We can hope so. But then again what happened to Rohan Davey?

You know what, Cassell doesn't need to be Tom Brady. That's an unrealistic expectation. All MC needs to do is pull off his best Trent Dilfer imitation. With the talent we have on this team, I think we can still win games with a Trent Dilfer game manager at the helm.

remember the ravens game last year, where brady found gaffney in the endzone? The ravens was playing a zone and had 7 Dbs all zoning the endzone, and brady still found the open guy to win the game.

Cassel needs to be brady in situtations like that. The road to the superbowl will be filled with redzone offense and cassel needs to be clutch like brady in the redzone.

About Cassell as a player - (which is implied by the context). Its not like BB gets everything right. See Chad Jackson for an example.. Many posters thought he was a bust and he was. Many poster thought Cassell was a bust...and..

Anyway you KNOW all this. I suspect your just trying to be a ....
