Which was worse - Losing Brady for the season or losing last years Super Bowl?

The Super Bowl was far worse. I was HOPELESS afterwards - doubting a lot of 'certainties' that I took for granted.

I was a Pats fan well before Brady and will be long after he is gone. Most importantly, I have HOPE in Cassel. He is a great makeup and will succeed.

THis is almost a double whammy. If the Pats had won the super bowl, I'm not saying that this still wouldn't hurt a ton, but the fact that they not only lost the super bowl, we waited through a agonizing offseason, and then Brady went down right away makes this actually sting even more. The Pats have a good number of players who are at their peak NOW, and may lose a step next year. This team did NOT have a big window of opportunity. Which again, I wouldn't harp on having some good, but older players if we had won last year. Opportunities are slipping by...

Superbowl, definitely. Losing Brady is bad, but better now at the start of the season than later.

It's apples and snowballs but both are huge kicks in the nuts.

I will say this however. As bad is this injury is, if we had won last year's Super Bowl and were now a 4 time Champ and the defending Super Bowl Champ, well it would have taken a bit, just a bit, of the sting out of this devastating injury. Thus put me down for losing the Super Bowl being more devastating.

Losing the Superbowl hurt - and still hurts - far far worse.

After that Superbowl I lost all interest in football for a good while, I just couldn't bear thinking about it. After this injury, for all that is a terrible blow, I am still very excited about the season ahead.

I referenced this in another thread....to me, losing the SB to lose the chance for 19-0 was a singularly awful sports experience. The worst ever. Losing Brady, while terrible, is something that happens in sports--you lose guys, sometimes the most important guys. Brady will be back next year to fight again. Last year's opportunity is gone forever.

Well said......I looked at the SB minutes after the clocked ticked to zero and said, OK, next year we hoist the Belichick trophy......and then less than 10 minutes into the season I am thinking, OK now we have to wait 2 years to hoist the trophy. As I have calmed down, I still think it is doubtful we get to and win the SB this year, but these Patriots are a team and there are 52 other players, many of them the best at what they do, that take it one game at a time, and that is what I am going to do too......

I dont think there have been many days in my life worse than the Super Bowl. Like many of you, I couldnt sleep for weeks, I was miserable, etc. With this injury, at least we have some hope. I mean, we clearly have to calm our expectations, but we have 15 games to play, at least. People have to, and will step up. We are a winning franchise, with loads of confidence. People still have to beat us. Our defense is improved, and with the added pressure, is likely to step up

feels about the same, nothing to look forward to.

just have to be a fan till next year

Is this a joke?

Bring on the rest of the season........the Super Bowl was unspeakable. This is the stuff that happens in sports--let's see what happens! It's going to be damn interesting to watch.

Superbowl, in a landslide.

Super Bowl, easy. Biggest choke in the history of sports in my lifetime.
