Which team is your 'mystery' team this season?

Seattle Seahawks are my mystery team. No more Shaun Alexander, Hasselbeck has had back problems, and who is he going to throw the ball to? Branch and Engram are hurt, Hackett bolted to Carolina, and replacement WR Ben Obomanu is now their 9th player on IR. Add to that a lame duck HC, and the team could tank - or they could breeze to yet another division title.

Pastriots. They could be 10-6 or 5-11. Hard to say. Busted line, no DBs, Brady with a busted foot. New LBs.

I saw your name under last reply and knew this was going to be your answer.

I'm only surprised that mcbee gives the Pats a chance to win as many as ten games.

Green Bay. I'd love for them to surprise and make the playoffs while Lord Favrequad pads his interception record, but that is a team where I just scratch my head and shrug.

I'll go with the Titans. They have some real talent on defense and play smashmouth. How far they will go will depend on Vince Young becoming an NFL football player. If that happens or not I'm not sure.

The Dolphins. No seriously. I could see them winning a lot of games this year. Chad Pennington will have one of the best RB tandems in the league. The organization is going to be better from the top down, despite how much I dislike Parcells, he will have a very positive impact.

I feel they have a strong chance of beating:

Arizona
SF
Oakland
KC
Baltimore

It's also not impossible to see them beating:

Buffalo x2
NYJ x2
St Louis

The only games on their schedule that I'm almost positive they'll lose are:

NE x2
SD
Houston
Denver
Seattle

There's a lot of things that could break either way for them. Having Chad Pennington will be a huge boost for them, though, and he's going to make the Jets pay.

There are a lot of those types of teams this year. I like what others have said about the Rams, Lions, Redskins, Cardinals, Packers, Texans, Titans, Bills, and even the Jets. I'd like to add the Bears and 49ers to that list.

Seattle is NOT one of those! Branch is pretty much ready to go, Engram should only miss 3 games, Burleson's fine, their defense is great and healthy, and cutting Alexander only made them BETTER. Now they can rotate RBs with J.Jones, Morris, and Duckett. Seattle is EXPECTED to win the division this year. BTW, I'll be in Seattle this year to watch our Pats kick some Seachicken butt on December 7 Sunday Night Football (I live in WA State so the Pats only come here once every 8 years). Not sure if I'll wear a Rodney or a Bruschi jersey yet.

Interesting question and if I had to pick a team who I have not the foggiest idea of what they will do is....

Baltimore - While many are expecting the QB situation to kill this team since Boller is on IR. I think Flacco could be good enough to handle the offense since the defense is still pretty good and should be able to hold up their end of the bargain

Again a rookie in Flacco is the question mark for this team, and could take them to the playoffs with the D likely to be decent or Flacco could be the next dud and Baltimore falls,Of course Smith when healthy could end up back at starting QB but he is just as questionable as a QB

Basically any team that has undergone a major change in its makeup since last year:

Giants
Jets
Green Bay
etc.

Does it suck to be this starved for attention?

Then why did you pick the Texans I think you picked on the first page of this thread?

houston and denver in the afc
love the qbs

carolina in the nfc
steve smith, dj hackett, muhsin muhammad, dwill, and jonathan stewart
those are some nice weapons

Because Andre Johnson and Matt Schaub lit the world on fire for the few games they were both healthy in last year. Now they are both healthy.

If Houston wins that division,it may be a BIG shocker to others but not to me

I think the Colts are getting a bit old and slowly fading,The Jags have a great D but I still don't know if Garrard is the real deal and Tennessee is in the same boat as the Jags with a so so QB and a lousy looking WR corps - So why not Houston for a sexy pick this year?

Maybe the Texans becomes the Green Bay Packers of 2007 and surprise everyone - We all know Super Mario is a beast on that D-Line

Mystery team will be Houston, could sneak in as a playoff team.. Also Buffalo is a dark horse.. both could sneak in as wild cards

Big disapointments- Dallas- will make playoffs ,but as a wild card, Cleveland- too much hype, NYJ--only because im biased, and want them to fail:D

Houston is a good pick. I agree with what everyone is saying. If healthy, they have some good weapons on offense.

However, I'm gonna pick the same team I've picked for the last 4 years.
The Cards. Every year, I think they're gonna come out of nowhere, and wreck teams with their offense, and every year,,,,,they suck! So lets keep the streak alive.

My mystery team this year is the Jets. I think they make the playoffs with a weak schedule this year. (All bets are off if the Madden Curse is alive). :D

Ditto Patriot64 pick of Ravens as mystery team. They have had bad offense for so long - it wouldn't take much improvement there to win a few more games and be very competative again. Course assuming their D doesn't do a 180. Then again with their QB situation in such flux - they could easily really suck again.

As far as my NFC mystery pick - is much more difficult to decide for me as NFC is such a weak conference with alot of mediocre .500 teams. Oh I guess I would have to say Carolina Panthers. Some weeks they can look so good and others so bad. Not much consistancy last 2 years as I can remember (not that I follow them studiously).

I expect with the talent upgrade the Saints should be quite good - I don't see any mystery about them as (on paper) they greatly improved their weakest link (defense). And Brees is a great QB. How's that working out for you San Diego?
