NFL will "proceed immediately" with hiring and training replacement officials

NFL to begin process for replacement refs - Extra Points - Boston.com A season of chippy games is in the offing! :bricks:

Is Wes Welker a "System Receiver"?

Now that the poll has closed, it seems most voters (55) feel Welker is, to some degree, a system receiver. The result is is close though, because 47 voters feel he isn't.

How has your attitude toward Welker's SB46 non-catch changed since the game?

Looks like the poll closed with more than a supermajority of voters -- 72.36% in fact -- not blaming Welker at all.

Tom Brady Funny or Die video!

    Only 11 posts to start bashing "the G" in a Brady thread? I think that's a patsfans.com record! :D

    Belichick addresses a Weakness...

You're suggesting Brady isn't infallible? You're suggesting Brady isn't destined to play the quarterback position flawlessly for the next thousand years? On this board? Jets fan. :bricks:

How has your attitude toward Welker's SB46 non-catch changed since the game?

I agree that there should be one. Unfortunately, I can't edit the poll, so "hasn't changed" has to be indicated in a post, as you have done. :)

How has your attitude toward Welker's SB46 non-catch changed since the game?

All this Welker contract discussion has prompted me to go back and re-watch the Super Bowl 46 catch that wasn't. Wes Welker Missed Catch Super Bowl 46 - YouTube At the time, I wasn't really upset with Welker, because of the usual cliches -- 60-minute game, team game, etc. However, now I've...

Wes Welker: Contract talks with Pats have gotten worse

Does anyone think Welker is in effect, paying the cost of the Ocho debacle? The Pats flushed about 6 million dollars down the crapper on Ocho. Are they trying to get it back on the Welker deal?

Is Wes Welker a "System Receiver"?

This is your chance to vote on whether Welker, given his current age and ability, is a "system receiver". Let's define a system receiver as a receiver who puts up much better numbers in a particular offense (including that offense's quarterback ;) ) than he would with most of the other 31...

Wes Welker says he has nine and a half million reasons to play

This is a great analysis, and I think it superbly parallels the Pats' thinking vis-a-vis enlarging the offensive field vertically and horizontally. Furthermore, this analysis is consistent with tagging Welker for one or possibly two years, since the Pats' offense is likely transitioning away...

MMQB - Brady is last of the Mohicans and not planning to leave any time soon.

The greats don't leave them game; the game leaves them. Barring serious injury, which is of course a threat for every player, Brady will simply reach a point where the mind is able and the spirit willing, but the flesh is weak. The fact that this topic keeps coming up repeatedly, from various...

Now that the '07 band is (almost) back together...

Interesting. The final results are relitively close, with 26 voting "yes" or "possibly", and 29 "probably not" or "no chance" votes.
