Needed to edit (after dinner out with the family). Think this week's post is now ready to go if you can use it.

John - Here are a couple of edits in case you do post my piece. In item 2 - the Patriots have 6 (rqhter than 5) 11 win season prior to 2003. Also, the end of the last sentence in item 2 shoud read ... "througout the NFL" .

In item 6, Maryland is spelled incorrectly.

I'm sure there are others but that's what I found with a fresh read this morning.

Hi - I've been swamped with work, travel and family commitment through the holidays. Finally had a chance today to write something for the first time in quite a while. Feel free to use it in your blog if you are still interested. I hope to write more during the playoffs.

John - looks like you decided not to post. In the event you do, there's a typo in the first paragraph that I noticed after it was too late to edit (s/b "while nursing a Guinness" not "whiling." Andy

NFL Competition Committee Chairman Rich McKay said today that there is a proposal on the table that would bring major changes to kickoffs in the NFL games.

What is being discussed is moving the line of scrimmage where the ball is placed after a touchback now being the 25-yard line, rather than the 20-yard line.

In addition kickers will be able to tee the ball up on their own 35-yard line rather than their own 30, which of course means that kickoffs are going to travel

It's that point in mid-week where the talk of the previous game has died down, but talk of the next game has not yet heated up. So I figured I'd pass this along for anybody that like early Pats history.

Recently I had the pleasure of meeting and speaking with a member of the original Patriots team thanks to a mutual acquaintance. His name is Jack Davis and he was a starting guard on the 1960 team. Here are a few of the things he mentioned.

When he first played at...

About a week ago I posted a list of potential NFL milestones for Patriot players - 2010 Patriot NFL Milestones - New England Patriots Forums - PatsFans.com Patriots Fan Messageboard - but inadvertently omitted Wes Welker.

Season Receptions Leader

If Welker leads the NFL in receptions again, he will become only the sixth player to accomplish that in the history of the NFL three times. Perhaps one of the most amazing yet also overlooked sports record is Don Hutson's...

About a week ago I wrote about some potential Pats franchise milestones that could occur this season or soon after here: 2010 Patriot Milestones - New England Patriots Forums - PatsFans.com Patriots Fan Messageboard Today I thought I'd take a look at some possible milestones in the NFL record books for the Pats.

TEAM

With 13 regular season wins the Pats would have 400 wins in their franchise history. They would be the 17th team to reach that mark - or 16th...

Football is the ultimate team sport, and the Patriots were the ultimate in putting team records ahead of individual records this past decade. Still, I thought it would be fun during this slow off season to look at some potential Patriot team franchise records and milestones that could occur in 2010.

PASSING

Tom Brady holds nearly every Patriot passing record, but there is one more that can be added to the list this year. Brady (4218) is exactly 300 pass attempts...
