OK, before the season starts, lets see if you are still following your favorite underdog from draft day. For arguements sake lets call them players under rd 2...Where did they get drafted--or did they show up as FAs?? Did they make the team? How do they look?
I was VERY dissapointed to see Wesley Woodyard(LB Kentucky)not drafted AT ALL!! He was projected to be a 4th rounder, led the SEC in tackles, had all the coaches talking about him at the senior bowl, and ran the 2nd fastest time for a LB at the combine.......and went undrafted. Most teams saw him as a tweener, a very small 229#LB without the hip swivel to turn into a SS.....he went unclaimed a few days and ended up on the Broncos roster as a free agent.
This is why NFL network is great, I could watch him get in the 2nd half of their games and basically pick up where he left off. He had about 7-9 tackles per HALF, had a couple big hits, causing more than 1 fumble and being a lunatic on ST. Suffice to say he made the club, some Denver fans suggest he will actually get some playing time at LB too! I felt so sorry for this kid after draft day--so glad he found a place to start his career! So much for those draft gurus!

Well he was in round 2 but I will say Notre Dame LB Trevor Laws was a guy I was keeping a close eye on and hoped he would last till round 3 where I saw the Pats picking him up if they could

I think the Eagles will be glad they picked up this guy who I think will have a very productive rookie season in the middle of that Defense

Well my guy was Rd 1 but he was projected to be rd 2-3. Chris Johnson from East Carolina. Right now he is on the Titans giving LenDale White a run for his money, he was said to be to small for rb, but is breaking long runs not just on the outside but also through the middle. He is supposed to be getting 40-50% of carries this season according to Jeff Fisher, and people think ROY is in his sights this year.

Mine was Steve Slaton - he got drafted in the 3rd round by the Texans and has played his way into a starting role - I loved watching him in college and I hope he has a good career in the pros

LaValle Hawkins, I thought he'd make a great slot receiver. I he was drafted by the Titans, but they've played him more at defensve back, and I don't know if he made their 53.

Jack Williams CB Kent State. He was drafted in the 4th round by the Broncos- made the team- seems as if he'll start off being the dime back. Tough place to land w/ Champ Bailey and Dre Bly anchored as starters...

I wanted Craig Stevens as the 3rd blocking TE. He was drafted a bit higher (3rd round) then I would of liked the Pats to take him.
Now I know it's preseason but Tennessee had the highest Yards Per Carry thus far. Partially from Chris Johnson, but Stevens has done well in there.

2 guys....

Tom Zbikowski, strong safety from Notre Dame. He's caught on well with the Ravens. I was really hoping we'd trade up in the 3rd for him instead of taking O'Connell. He could have been Rodney's heir.

Anthony Alridge, running back from University of Houston. He went undrafted but signed with the Broncos. He's tiny but he's unbelievably quick and has talent to burn. He's already regarded as the number 2 or 3 back in Denver. The fans there are calling him "quick 6".

EDIT: Apparently Alridge tore a ligament in his foot and is out for the year, so Denver IR'd him. That sucks.

Maybe they would have drafted him with #78 if San Diego hadn't come calling at #69. . . .

Vernon Ghoulston..yikes!

I loved WR Dexter Jackson from Appalachian St., especially as a weapon on returns. He went much earlier than projected, though, so no chance. Apparently he's looked great in the return game, and had an 83-yd punt return TD in preseason for Tampa.

Another personal favorite, NT Red Bryant, has started slowwwwwly. He was injured early in camp and only saw action in the final preseason game, where he didn't look good at all.

I was a fan of Craig Stevens and Dexter Jackson (both previously posted), but I thought the Pats would get Jonathan Goff out of Vanderbilt in the late 3rd. he ended up going in the 5th to the Giants.

I shall never speak of him again. :(

Ironically, Crable was my guy.

Quentin Groves. Not sure how he's doing, haven't been paying attention to other teams' camps too much.

OLB/DE Cliff Avril - taken after Crable - makes Detroit's final 53;

DB Tyvon Branch - taken after O'Connell - makes Oakland's final 53;

OG Roy Schuening - taken after Wilhite - makes St Louis' final 53;

DT Ahtyba Rubin - taken after Slater - makes Cleveland's final 53;
(p.s.: The Browns must have the largest DL group in league history. These guys weigh a ton - literally.)

P Durant Brooks - also taken after Slater - beats out Derek Frost in Washington;

C Steven Justice - taken after Lil' Bo (not a peep) Ruud - makes Indy's final 53;

SS Josh Barrett - also taken after Ruud - cut by Denver, then signed to its PS;

If their 7th-rounder hadn't been given away, I wanted the NEP to choose OL Mackenzy Bernadeau, who beat out Evan Mathis for Carolina's 9th OLman.

UDFA LB Erin Henderson makes Minnesota's final 53.

Jamie Silva of BC. I love the guy's game, but wasn't sure he had NFL speed. He's on the Colts PS. Let's hope he catches on somewhere else so we can actually root for the guy.

I really didnt have any this year but my 2 from previous years

Maurice Stoval and Dave Thomas.
Both of these guys will be helping their respective teams this year and I can actually root for one of them

Vernon Gholston. As another guy said, yikes.

My dream draft of Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and Curtis Lofton would be looking REAL SWEET right now.

Curtis is coming on like gang busters and is the starting mike ILB in Atlanta.

DRC has been so dominant in PS, there hasn't been on pass completed in his area code. Greatness awaits this man.

That would have been quite the draft and was my dream draft on the weeks leading up to it.

DRC/Curtis Lofton
or
Mayo/Wheatley

We'll see how this pans out...............
