Re: Borges:So Which Is It Going To Be ?

Not sure what WEEI is thinking with bringing back Felger, the resident contrarian on the airwaves, and now his blogging there is a lot to be desired here.

It's sad but this is what Ron Borges can be and used to be before he let personal vendettas and wounded pride color his every utterance.

Bill should blow this up and hang it on the door to the runway and make all 53 players initial it as read before they hit the practice field on Wednesday.

Well they are initiating a startup so they want to attract attention be it negative or positive. And this is the capital city for the good old boy sports media network. Their motto is let no buddy fall by the wayside...

Ultimately I think they are hoping to resurrect what were at one time two solid and respected print careers. Unfortunately if they let them have on air time too, as they have Felger already, it will just feed the beast as each tries to out shock the competition as a means to garner more ratings and more airtime. I guarantee you Felger is doing this in hopes he will finally get in the que for next available WEEI FT hosting slot. Even it it's just FT/PT like a weekend show. Neither of these two want to be just bloggers for a local sportsradio website permanently. Although Ron really needed a local regular football gig to continue justifying his possession of that lone Boston HOF voters card.

You're so right: got to give him credit. Back when RB was polluting the Globe with his venom, a lot of people said that they didn't mind reading well-argued contrarian articles. This is just the sort of thing. (If the Patriots start off with a 31-0 win, what will he write, though?)

If he morphs into they got lucky and dodged a bullit and are skating on thin ice you will have your answer. If they escape with a 3 point win and give up 20+ in the process, he will write that and have a point.

At the end of the day Ron will always grudgingly admire them because he knows the game. But he hates the man and will likely never totally give up on the pipe dream of being ultimately vindicated.

Yes, indeed. Well-observed and well-written. He is right on the money with this article. Let's see if he keeps it up. It'll be easy to tell, it's never taken him long in the past to revert to the quick snipe of little thought.

I can't stand Borges, but I must admit that I agree with him 100% here. The uninspiried play throughtout the pre-season has me concerned too.....well, check that, he's hoping it carries over to the regular season and I'm certainly not. :)

That'll never happen because BB won three Super Bowls during Borges' tenure at the Globe. It's conceivable the Patriots could stumble at some point with BB at the helm, though to this point he's bucked the odds of the NFL's cyclical nature. I can't think of anything that could occur through which Borges claims "vindication," as he's been proven wrong at every turn.

Oh, I know that. If sypgate couldn't kill Bill nothing will. But the wounded creature that resides inside Ron will never give up hope. He's like the proverbial woman scorned who cackles gleefully and feels finally vindicated when the one who scorned her passes on 50 years later when their both in their dotage...

I was going to read the article, but my life is simply too short to waste on anything Borges might write. I washed my hands of him and the Globe a LONG time ago, and have never looked back.
