No coach in recent memory has given me more chuckles than Herm Edwards.

When head coach of the Jets, we Patriots fans came to know coach Edwards during those years. But KC thought so highly of him that they gave up a 5th round draft choice for coach Edwards to steal him away.

This week we play KC for the first time since he has taken over a HC. So I though it would be good to have a thread dedicated to our memories of coach Edwards. I have changed my avatar just for this game.

Here is a web site dedicated to quotes from coach Edwards.http://thinkexist.com/quotes/herm_edwards/ and here is another that some Chiefs fans set up

I'm sure that some of you have favorite quotes or images to post about coach Edwards, this thread for that.

I feel bad for Kansas City fans. They are some of the best fans in the league and deserve better than Herm Edwards.

Eric: "Joe told me, he's want to kiss you".

These little town blues, are melting away
Ill make a brand new start of it - in old New York
If I can make it there, Ill make it anywhere
Its up to you - New York, New York

I'm not sure I would want coach edwards to coach my team, but I always thought he appeared to be a good person. As you say he some times makes you chuckle....:D

Ditto, I wouldn't let Herm coach my Pop Warner team, but he is a classy person (without having to tell people that he is classy, cough LT). Herm will one day make a great color commentator on TV.

"You play to win the game"- classic

then he comes out with tHis one:
You do what's best for your team, ... throw passes and get (the quarterback) killed. Are you kidding me? For what? That's ridiculous.”

You play to win the game?

Remember these?

"I'm not real smart but i know a little bit about certain number you need to try to get to win a football game."

or

"Well, obviously you have to score some points, and the other team just scored more points than us, and obviously that wont win us a heck of alot of football games, and our guys understand that."

"I messed with the Jets fans for long enough, Eric. Now it's you're turn. Go get 'em lover!!

Herm(aphrodite) Edwards is a blunderful coach.

Its always interesting to me what criteria people use to call a guy 'classy' based on the limited exposure you have to a coach or player.
It seems that for the most part, the media makes these decisions, and when they call a guy classy, the general opinion becomes that.
To me, Herman Edwards has always been a guy who is trying to manipulate everyone's opinion of him. As the coach of the Jets, it seemed so obvious to me that most of his comments were made with 'quotability' in mind, trying to get something attributed to him.
Personally, I find the talk in the media about his family, and his personal relationships, which he uses to describe his character, as an indication of a lack of character. True character doesnt require that you tell everyone how much character you have; doesnt include sharing family issues, topics, discussions, with the media to make yourself look better.

I think that Herman Edwards consistently goes out of his way to FORM the media's opinion of his character, and my gut instinct is that anyone who feels the need to do that most likely has character issues.
Its analagous to a job interview. The one thing that the candidate cannot wait to talk about is the one thing that the employee needs to be concerned about. (i.e. "I am honest and trustworthy" offered without a question means that cadidate is self-conscious that they are dishonest) In other words, if you have to work that hard to show people you are classy, you probably aren't.

I just never understood why the Pats didn't go after Herm. We need someone who will give a hug to their players---someone who you can connect with in times of need, someone who could get this team all fired up in the heat of the moment. Belichick doesn't socialize with his team, Herm could have been that missing ingredient. Oh well, what could have been:(

You PLAAAAAAAYYY to PUNT the Ball!!!!!!

Well, KC could do a lot worse I guess.

And personally I've never faulted him for the "you play to win the game" thing. Sometimes reporters ask such stupid questions you can't help but get irritated.

But yes, I have to wonder what Herm ever did in NY to make the Chiefs want him so bad. (Apparently it was just because he and the GM were big buds.)

I'm all for his name on this board being officially changed to Sperm Edwards.

There was a show on last night on ESPN about rookies, and they followed Dorsey.. thank god that Herm is not here, and it is no wonder with all his pandering and ball washing that his team wins any games at all.

That was a freakin' awesome article, SVN. Thanks for posting it.

If only more people would look at it that way. Mangenius is such a dork.
