Could he be headed to the Pats?

Pure speculation of course, but there were rumors the Pats liked him coming out of college. Sure fits the mold of a BB/Pioli type of CB.

The cornerback was told by the team that he is close to being traded and to go home and wait to be traded. Foxworth said that he was told that there are several teams Denver is talking to and that he has no clue where he will play next week only that it won't be with the Broncos.

The Patriots, Redskins, Saints, Rams and Browns are among the teams that need a cornerback.

Re: Another CB headed to Pats??

I've liked this guy for a long time. Too bad we traded for Duane Starks, otherwise we could have drafted him and Ellis Hobbs together.

Re: Another CB headed to Pats??

Foxworth was good his rookie year, but then faded off somewhat. However, I would rather take a chance on him than the trash like Byrant and Webster. What a joke!

Re: Another CB headed to Pats??

One of 5 teams...I don't think it's the Pats...more the Browns....

Only problem for them is the Browns continue to trade middle round picks away, I believe they have traded their 3rd and 5th Rd picks for the 2009 draft already, this after not having any picks in the first 3 rounds in this year's draft. So say they give up a 4th for Foxworth, they'll have no 3rd, 4th or 5th Rd pick.

Would be a good move, then maybe L.Sanders can move over to S and help there as well as special teams.

Indeed. Trading some picks is OK but down the road this kind of thing leaves a big hole - however they can trade Quinn after this year to recoup picks if they choose to.

Re: Another CB headed to Pats??

Foxworth is probably still fast enough to contribute, arguably moreso than Law. However, I feel like we've done enough shopping in the last few days for this to be really realistic.

So Browns don't have picks...Skinds are playing Thurs...so?? Rams..Saints?? Hmmmm I hope they do..but then..another roster move...

I think he can return punts. Maybe CJ goes if Aiken can play.
I's take Foxworth over the kids for at least a year. Probably cheaper than Law.

You make it sound like he's some greybeard that's been playing in the NFL forever. He's a fourth year player that's only 25 years old. His speed really shouldn't be a question, considering that he didn't suffer any kind of major injury.

Fair enough. I was concerned with stepping on the toes of all the guys who are still hoping for Law. I'm also not thinking about it too hard because I really do think it's a long shot that he ends up here.

But I also hope I'm wrong :)

keep him...

Excellent, Excellent Observation!!! This guy can play. He'd be starting were he not behind the arguably (considering Cromartie and Asomugha (sp) ) best pure corner in the league in Bailey , and the amount the broncos have investedin Drey Bly. The consensus in Denver is that if not for the amount the Broncos are paying Bly, Foxworth would be starting, and is very much a starting caliber corner. hence, Foxworth wanting a trade. I have no doubt he'd be successful here, although he plays primarily the right side and I can't remember if Hobbs is able to play LCB.

Hobbs plays either side, it's Samuel that could only play LCB. I've read somewhere that the Pats prefer to have corners that will play either side so they can scheme better.

If the FO thinks that Foxworth will be an improvement over O'Neal and the price is right, I have no doubt they'll pull the trigger.

umm Samuel played both sides. that year he had 10 picks...he played like 6 games at right then they switched him over after Hobb's injury to the wrist.

I would like to see Law come back to see if he has anything left to contribute. If he does he can fit right in without much confusion, having been in this defense before.

I'd go so far as to say he'd definitely be an upgrade over Lewis Sanders. Why isn't BB on the phone with Shanny right now?

The poster might have confused things a little. Samuel only wanted to play on one side and complained about it twice, but he obviously played on both sides of the field during various points of his career in NE.
