SEE YOU FOR GAME TWO WHEN WE SEE THE REAL 2008 ROSTER

Belichick and Pioli are out working hard, and are doing wierd things just as they always do in the 10 days coming up to Game 2. I'm sure there will be more transactions.

OFFENSE
1) Chad Jackson was waived after trade talks fell through. If Belichick is ready to give up, I am too. I LIKE Washington as the #4 receiver. We have lots of emergency #5's (Slater, Aiken and Ventrone).
2) With Watson possibly out for a game we are looking at Pociask. Why is that bad? Maybe he is better that Spach, maybe not.
3)We picked up an emergency OT to join Connolly on the likely to be replaced list. Is it really worse to have no #4 OT?
4) I presume CJ Jones will be waived when Faulk comes back, and will also land on the Practice Squad.
5) The weakness on the offense is the #8 and #9 OL's who Belichick might replace, and who are warming spots for them guys on the PUP list. The folks here might not like Hochstein or Yates, but Dante does.

DEFENSE
6) Last I heard the DL is what we wanted.
7) The last I heard the LB's are the ones we wanted. Is anyone crying that Hobson was cut and Guyton kept? Is Redd on the Practice Squad instead of the 53 man roster really a tragedy?
8) Are there Bryant fans out there? We have four CB's and a couple on the Practice Squad. Perhaps Richardson will be active when healthier.
9) Yes, it sucks that Belichick thinks that Lynch isn't worth $1.5M. Maybe he's not. In any case we have three safeties, which is all we need. Our emergency safteties are Sters as is usually the case (Slater and Ventrone).

OTHER ITEMS
4) The Practice Squad is looking good. We DO INDEED have two players that we could call up at any time: Spann and Richardson. And Redd made it through.
5) Who will be here first: Poteat, Law, Lynch, Seau?

NEXT STEPS
A) Cut CJ Jones when Faulk comes back.
B) Waive a TE wen we need a roster spot.
C) Look really hard at OL's. We've certainly tried. Welbourn and Flynn were the latest two.
D) Make decisions on Lynch and Law, Seau and Peteat also I suppose.

Excellent post...putting things into perspective is a good idea. This team is going to be fine; the foundation is there, they are just working to finish things off.

I expect to see Lynch and Faulk for Week 2 at the expense of CJ and a TE. Anything else (Law, W. Anderson, Seau) would surprise me at this point.

4. You left out Benjarvis too. Lost in todays unneccessary panic over the two cuts was that we got a really good PS filled with guys most of us here were high on.

5. I think Lynch first, Seau next. I don't see Poteat unless injuries happen which would mean later don the line. Law is an enigma Does he still have it? Will he except the right price? What role? if all the questions were answered to our satisfaction why has it not happened already? with all those questions the fan in me still wants him.

very happy we reserved BJ-GE..

I just read something very interesting at Scout.com. According to them, there are rumblings behind the scenes that the Pats have stepped up contract talks with Law. Take it FWIW. The next 10 days will be very interesting.

thats cool to hear maybe we have him by the morning. :D

Just read what DR reported - indeed, it mentioned "talks are in process". Would be interesting.

It's been reported Flynn could be back week 2, similar to Lynch.....or maybe he is on the shadow roster?

Alls I gots ta say is Feeling Much Better After Reading This Thread, wanna keep it up at the top of the List... Should be Standard Issue for Us Worriers...

DO late cuts, say CJ Jones or whoever, improve the odds they'll make it to the PS? Because whoever gets cut to fit guys in at this point, unless they're on the O, is gonna disappear. I don't see any young'uns on the D that would last long floating about in availability.

If they DO sign Law are all the anti-Lawites going to change their tunes about how great he is?

Nice analysis! FWIW, our PS could be one of the best ever, which only makes sense looking forward.

The Law talk is interesting. However, has anyone really watched Ty Law play the past three years? I only saw the MNF game in 2005.

Also, anyone know what's up with Rosy and Houston?

Not worth $6 million per year in his thirties, understand?

Perhaps you didn't understand the "tune".

A great analysis......
1---Agreed..CJ time to go..Plenty of receicvers who may NOT have the gifts CJ had, but who know what they need to do to get open and work at it..
2----Ageed..Spach and Pociask may battle for a spot..Watson could be out more though..so?? Inhuries a key here.
3----They picked up a body so they had 7 healthy linemen as a worse case..Others could be returning even before the PUP guys...LeVoir could go to the PSquad and learn under Dante..only a temporary move
4---Agreed..does he have PSQUAD time left??
5----Agreed although help maybe closer as well..this line will be fluid for awhile till healthy and complete
6---YES absolutely
7---No and No..all is set..
8---And/or another vet could be brought in..many options
9---And do not forget that Spann could bee brought up IF needed...
4--a strong PSQUAD...very soild good developmental players
5---maybe 3 of the 4..depending...it's a marathon not a sprint
The only thing I think is one of the OL vets could return...
Those decisions will happen in time Seau..injury related Lynch..when a spot is open or sooner...Law..when reasonableness trumps the greedy dollar Poteat...depends on other options..

Nice pos, Mg.

Agree with just about everything you said, but I'm not so sure anymore that CJ Jones should be looked at as the odd man out at receiver. IMO he showed enough as an outside receiver to warrant a spot.

That is the big question with Ty...the money..always has been..and it seems always will be..

We've now made our decision at DB. We signed O'Neill.
It is now confirmed that Pociask was brought as an upgrade to Spach. We now have 3 TE's
We further upgraded the Practice Squad, the best ever.

I agree, great post. I will take the roster a couple weeks further out...it wouldnt surprise me at all to see the next 3 weeks seen as a "preseason for the regulars". With TB's health a question, Faulk and maybe Watson missing time, and all the salary cap ramifications of the first week roster I suggest it will be in flux well into september. Alot of my "worry" will fall by the wayside as guys like Oneal and other vets are picked up and rookies are taking backseats. Too many rookies scares me,lol!

I don't think they cut Pociask... apparently he had a good preseason with the Jets and was a suprise cut (at least to the media). I think he is an upgrade to Spach... not that it says much.

I could see CJ Jones getting the axe when Faulk is ready.

I still think Lynch is coming back.

I'm not comfortable with CB. I doubt Poteat returns - maybe Law, but with the ONeal signing, who knows?
