Slater and Ventrone.???

I mean in bill i trust ,but rolling the dice just a tad bit in the secondary..

Also I hope Kelly Washington steps up this yr, I know Chad jackson is a major dissapointment, but hope we see more in the WR catches for kelly washington... CJ Jones beat out chad jackson, im still trying to fathom that..

Forget the dice my friend. Just flip a coin and that's our secondary.

Huh ?

At CB we replaced Samuel and Gay (who sucked) with the two draft picks, Wheatley and Wilhite, plus veteran L. Sanders. We may have lost our top end guy but we added young, albeit inexperienced, talent.

At S we will have replaced Wilson with Lynch when he returns. Harrison, Meriweather, J. Sanders, Lynch.

I really don't understand the question nor the angst.

I was not impressed with Bryant or Lynch they seemed slow and older, and I know we need to get younger, but we are going to have to scheme alot differently this yr.. Merriweather is hurt now, sanders and rodney have been known to be banged up.. Hobbs plays hurt, the 2 rookie's are unknown..

People will say well assante and eugene wilson were rook's in 03, some other parts though were younger in 03.. This is could, and I say COULD BE, the duane starks era in the secondary all over again in 05...

Lynch is not guarenteed to come back, have you seen enough from lewis sanders to feel better.. its going be a learning curve with the rooks.. I agree to get younger but Im just concerned with depth right now..

No, Bryant would have been Starks. L. Sanders actually looked decent and anyone could see Wheatley flash in the preseason.

I know but I think he will. Right now all we've lost at Safety is Wilson who's no loss unless there's an injury.

I think we're thin in the secondary, but not necessarily dangerously so. 4 Cb's, 4 safeties if you count Slater or Ventrone (5 if you count both). Add to that the rumors that Lynch is going to come back, and I think we're ok.

Wouldn't mind one more CB for depth, but it's not crucial.

I chaged it saying it could be the starks era.. I need to see more of lewis sanders before i feel comfortable..

Jeez, guy, stay away from sharp objects, okay?

I raised a question dude about the depth in our secondary.. Im not comfortable with it right now.. I think we allowed to do that ok.. :banned:

it is "safety"

I think its a valid question. we have four pure corners on the roster right now. Two are rookies and only one has experience in this defense.

The reason the vets are getting on you is because instead of discussing possible pickups or solutions, you're starting the 2005 comparisons ... before week one has started.

We may be ok at corner, given our strengths elsewhere, but the injuries are a huge concern at a position with little depth.

On the bright side, I'm psyched to see Wheatley getting the start in week one, assuming this is the plan. You have to be optimistic with BB's plan to incorporate the rookies into the starting lineup while we still have the Harrisons and Bruschi's on the field for them to learn from. Having #37 in the back field will do a lot to help a rookie CB's confidence until he's comfortable enough with the system and his role in it. Sanders and Merriweather will be fine for the most part

the more i think about it, we may be focusing on balance , by controling the clock with running the ball, and giving the d a needed rest.. I know its exciting, but dont want to see 45-42 games this yr.. Bottom line , depth is a concern to say the least..

It's all good, Meriweather is going to tear it up.

So now the fact that players on the roster were once hurt, or 'play injured' means we have no one? Every NFL team now has no one in their secodary then.

Our safeties are the same as last year, and it does sound like Lynch will be back.

Why would we have to scheme differently? We brought in 3 FA corners, and 2 draft choices, and kept the 3 best of the group. We found another cb to sign that appraently we think is better than the 2 vets we cut.

The scheme comment shows ignorance to the situation. We drafted, signed and kept players BASED UPON OUR SCHEME.
Somehow, the fact that Sanders fits our scheme better than Bryant has people up ion arms because they like Bryants name better.

Reading these posts, it sounds like people think BB is a poster on this board making irational uninformed roster decisions. BB has 10000 times more infomation available to him on these players than anyone on this board.

HE KEPT THE BEST 53. There is no doubt about that, its just a matter of the minimal information available to fans means they mis-guessed which 53 were the best 53.
