Let's get the big man in here and shore up the right side of this OLine. If it's either Willie Anderson OR Ty Law, I'm going to take Willie Anderson.

Re: It's time for Willie Anderson

This was covered in another thread but I agree with you: Anderson would have a bigger impact than Law. We already have several older DB's whose best running days are behind them. Anderson plays in a much smaller space and can get by on guile and skill more effectively than some who needs to cover lots of ground to do his job well. He'd reinforce the nasty attitude an O-Line needs to really excel. Sign Wiliie now!

If price and attitude and health are not a problem....but I think they will pick up a tackle on the cheaper side..

Another veteran hungry for a ring would be a plus.

The Official Bring Willie Anderson to New England Thread

Any one else think we should bring in Willie Anderson to replace Kaczur on the right side?

With Cincinnatti releasing him, I think BB and Pioli should get him.

I think we need help in the run blocking department.

Don't know much about Anderson personally, but the Bengals always seemed to have a decent line overall. Is he a right or left tackle? Can he play either?

I'd feel a lot better about Brady's health if we had a bit more depth in front of him, so I agree with you all. OL before Law if there's a choice.

If it's either-or, I've got to agree. Shore up the OL and only good things will follow.

He started at RT for the Bengals in almost every single game from 1996 through 2007, making Pro Bowls in 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2006.

He got hit with some injuries in 2007, and lost his starting job to Stacey Andrews, who held it throughout this year's training camp. He asked for a pay cut a few days ago and was cut yesterday.

"This wasn't a decision based on my play, I want to make that clear," Anderson said. "They weren't comfortable with two guys making big salaries at the same position. I'm not mad or bitter about this, but I am disappointed in the timing."

Lewis said the decision to release Anderson was "very tough."

"He has been significant to me," Lewis said. "He has been significant to this organization, beyond me. We'll see what happens. It may not be over.

Thanks for the info. That sounds good enough for me. Sign him up!

Could Kazcur play RG? I would guess so, at least as a fill in until Neal comes back in six weeks. Then we've got him to back up both right positions on the line.

Kaczur supposedly played some RG in OTAs/minicamp this year, IIRC.

i think he was only scheduled to make 3.15 million this year.

the fact that he made the pro bowl the last five years is reason enough to bring him in here. we need some more athleticism up front and Kaczur is not going to do it.

bump bump bump

Roster spots are opening up fast, and apparently we missed out on Alleman, so bumpity bump :)

do you guys know if anderson is a good run blocking tackle?

He was a road grader when I watched him in Cincinnati. He would definitely upgrade the run blocking on the right side, especially when paired with a healthy Neal. I'd love to see the Pats bring him in.

cool. i'm just trying to keep the thread alive so BB will be reminded of Willie Andrews. I know he knows andrews is available but I started a thread on John Lynch prior to when the pats signed him and it worked, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that lightning will strike twice.

if Willie Anderson reminds him of Willie Andrews, that could be the problem right there...;)
