Source: Chad Jackson released

In a surprising move, the Patriots informed wide receiver Chad Jackson this morning that they are cutting him from the roster, according to a league source.

Jackson, the team's second-round draft choice in 2006, entered training camp in a battle for the No. 3 job previously occupied by Donte' Stallworth. He also took repetitions as a punt returner.

With Jabar Gaffney seizing the role of No. 3 receiver, and receiver/returner C.J. Jones making the 53-man roster, Jackson was apparently deemed expendable.

That is a shocker. CJ Jones must have really impressed. Aiken and Welker must be healthy-ish, too.

wow.

maybe he'll fit in somewhere else. he wasn't a good fit on this team.

I like CJ and Ventrone, and i love Gaffney (who was in no fear of being cut obviously)

Jackson was pretty frustrating.

Why now? Is there someone on the radar?

knowing him, he probably was acting like an idiot after he found out he didn't get cut yesterday.

and i dont know him but you know what i mean.

I wasn't going to have a problem if he got cut...until I learned CJ "I fumbled 10 times in the preseason" Jones would be making the roster ahead of him. What the hell are they thinking?

i am very very surprised...

Not if you saw my predicted 53!

i think they probably went back, looked at your predicted 53, and realized that they had made a huge mistake.:singing:

I'm kinda glad he's gone.

This is NOT a surprise.
The guy just never really impressed while he was here.

Also, why should he get a spot instead of Ventrone or CJ Jones who worked their tails off and looked good doing it.

Look for Dallas to pick him up.

Bizarre decision, given that he'd survived yesterday's cuts.

You must have watched a different set of games because CJ Jones didn't look good at all.. Fumbled punts. Fumbled kicks.

So what effect does this have on the WR chart??

Moss
Welker
Gaffeny
Then who??? Washingtion???

And, there must be someone coming in.

Now we're gonna hear all the idoits saying they shoulda drafted Santonio Holmes instead.

Now all they have to do is get rid of that wasted space called LeKevan Smith and they'll make the team better. :p

Clearly he never "got it" but he made some preseason plays after the first game so . . . color me shocked.

Well.

Well, well, well.

So...he's out, who's in?

so how many do they ahve on the roster now? 53 or 52?

it's kind of sad he got released. I just think he was never properly taught how to run routes. he had the physical tools, but not the mental part.

and maybe a large part was maturity
