SEVEN rookies made the 53.

That is simply amazing to me.

(Mayo, Crable, Wheately, Wilhite, Slater, Guyton, O'Connell)

Re: Lost in the discussion:

BB is serious about rebuilding.

Re: Lost in the discussion:

It's not beyond the realms of possibility that 5 of them will be contributing on gameday in one way or another. Hopefully (and it does seem so), it's a case of if you're good enough you're old enough, rather than if you're young enough you're good enough.

Re: Lost in the discussion:

BB doesn't rebuild... He reloads!!!:rocker:

Re: Lost in the discussion:

I DO think it was lost...7 is amazing!! Fiven the talent on this team...ALso add into that Ventrone and CJ Jones..and Dan Connolly...that is quite amazing...

Re: Lost in the discussion:

I like Guyton the most because he was undrafted. I think Crable will get a lot of playing time and we already know that Mayo and Wheatley are starting. I also like Slater on kickoffs so Hobbs can mentally prepare on the sidelines to give up pass after pass to 2nd and third tier recievers. I'm sorry, I had to throw that one in there. I can't stand Hobbs, he sucks.

And an 8th was placed on Injured Reserve.

Yeah, I wouldn't call it that. Their secondary probably couldn't stop a high school team. Oh, and their O-line sucks balls.

I think O'Connell will be the number 2 QB in 09.
I already feel better with him in there over Cassell.
FO drafted this guy in the third round when it seemed to me
they could have used another O lineman or TE but they
took O'Connell when they already have two back up qb's on the roster.
They must see a lot in this guy and we're starting to see it too.
I never worried he would be cut though others would differ.

Don't know enough about Guyton but I heard his name alot on the games so good for him for making the team.
Slater has been doing pretty well from what I've been reading here and he seemed to be a special player that BB likes so it was no surprise that he's make the 53.
I got a good feeling about Crable and think we're going to be seeing him a lot, especially in passing situations.
Of Course Mayo would have been a jail riot if he'd been cut.

Does anyone know if Oliver Ross is eligible to play this year?

Funny, THIS was the attitude on draft day:

I am totally embarrassed by this draft for this organization, and last year we were all hoping was a fluke. RK time for some draft board help.

Here is my prediction for two years from now. The QB from SDS makes the team because in another stroke of genius, we drafted Cassel who will be gone. Mayo and Crable will make it. That's it. The rest are gone. Any takers?

Fellas, time for new scouts!

I guess the sky isn't falling after all. Maybe BB and SP have some idea what they are doing. But, to be fair, it was a TWO year "guarantee".

Now, see, I would difer with you. O'Connell was drafted because he was, in the eyes of the Patriots FO, the best athlete available when their turn came up. Coach has said over and over again that the emphasis is on picking the best available athlete over the needs of the team when the turn comes up. It doesn't mean that occasionally they will vary and actually pick an athlete that they have a need for, but in their minds, overall skills and athleticism trump the kid's position.

Respects,

I'm disappointed it wasn't 8 - Vince Redd, Binky.

yes...same time Neal is ready to play...and I was listening to BStearns...BS....and he was saying that Neal has a shoulger injury and it may be career ending and??? WTF???? A bit before the 3rd game,,,I heard SOME report on on of the local Boston channels..saying Neal was almost ready...huh???

I can't believe that Cassel is still around. BB really knows how to piss off fans.

The guy didn't score a TD in 4 games. It's really shocking.

BTW, QB Harrington is available. So is Earthwind Moreland, er, I mean Hank Poteat.

This has been a continuous discussion time and again. The Patriots do not draft by BPA. They do not draft based on need. They draft by VALUE. Which is a combination of BPA and NEED. That is how they have done their draft board for years. Belichick has never said they take the best available athelete regardless of need.

Must be great at running to Dunkin Donuts for Brady.

Thank you. I was going to write that.
Really I was.:)

I saw it in game 1 ... the rookies that played then all looked special in terms of ability. Let's hope the coaches get them to the next level or 2.
