just an FYI.. Does have practice squad eligibility.

didn't see his play against the Giants, but I don't think he looked that good in the first three games . Lynch is the obvious upgrade in most spots. Hopefully this means Merriweather is not too nicked up.

Spann is a FS....not related to Lynch. This has more to do with Slater's eye-opening play at FS against the Giants.

Actually Spann was playing more of a SS position in the preseason (sometimes, at least), and Lynch has played both positions throughout his career. As have Sanders and Meriweather. They're all inter-related.

No,he hasn't been playing SS....he's a FS.

We have 3 players who could play FS fulltime. In order:

1.Meriweather
2.Spann
3.Sanders

Harrison and Lynch used to be free safeties and can fill in there. However, you would never...and I mean never succeed with either as a full time FS.

As I said,Slater is what is making Spann superfluous. It's NOT related to Lynch and Harrison.......apples and oranges.

It appeared that there were 3 spots available to 4 players: Slater, Ventrone, Lew Sanders & Spann.

Slater stayed because of his WR/FS/Return versatility, and his draft status.
Ventrone stayed because of his FS/ST experience, and his potential at Slot WR, esp. w/ Welker's availability in doubt.
Sanders stayed because of his CB experience & his possibility at FS.

As well as Spann has played, we just can't keep them all.
