I'm wondering if I'll be able to Slingbox it (I'm connected to a TV in Montreal that gets NY stations) or if I'll have to buy it on Yahoo.

Thanks.

You can buy it on yahoo? How is the video quality?

The 506

Not updated for week 1 yet but a good site to have bookmarked during the season.

Jets game is on @ 1 as well so I'm guessing that'll be the game you'll get unfortunately.

I used to live in Montreal and Montreal is a big Pats fan area..so the pats games usually find a way to make into tv there as I believe their CBS feed comes from Vermont.

You can buy it at Yahoo?

I got the NFL Sunday Ticket today with Super Fan which comes with an online version so that you can see one game on TV and another on your computer at the same time.

I think the set I'm hooked into has some kind of illegal DirectTV feed from NY.

Thanks for that link. Oh well, I'll be yahoo'ing it, I guess.

The appearance is OK if you're on a fast connection. Unfortunately I am not. But then again it's on at 1 AM here, and I'm not awake enough to be picky then.

I've got a Slingbox at my parent's place but they keep breaking it.

Funny. I had one at my dad's place in RI which enabled me to watch every game... but he kept breaking it, too!

on that note anyone know of places in the SF bay area i can watch pats games. i moved here this yr after 9 yrs of watching all pats games in boston but its either raiders or 49ers here :(

In San Jose there is a Mountain Milkes Pizza that opens early so People can see the Games. They have a ton of TVs Plasmas and regular ones.

Best Pizza Too. Great people.

Looks like we're getting Lord Farvequad and the Rats here on CBS. Which translates into me sitting at whatever place I can find that might have the Pats game on. Wish me luck.

Presuming you have friends or family back in Boston, it sounds like Slingbox would be perfect for you.

hey, could you tell me how that slingbox works? I am in the Marines stationed in Japan and have to find a way to watch them, my dad lives in Maine so i know he gets all the pats games. The only thing is that i have a MAC not a PC. Does anyone know any other site as well that i could watch the pats live?? Thanks

A slingbox connects to a TV's cable or dish box and then one can control that box and watch it through the internet. It's fairly easy to set up and very easy to use. I have used it with MACs before and it works well. www.slingmedia.com give alot more specific info.

i just looked up the yahoo sports nfl pass, its kinda pricy for the year, but i guess so is the slingbox. i am looking into the slingbox, is this something that is recommended to use? i have gone to all different sites including

stoogetv.com
channelsurfing.net

i have tried the sopcast

I wholeheartedly recommend it. With the fast internet speeds in Nippon, it should work great. You just need to find someone back home who can and does watch all Pats games on their TV, or at least is willing to let you control their TV while Pats games are on.

PS - welcome to the board, bud!

FOX has the doubleheader in Week One, so it's doubtful that most areas outside of New England and Kansas City will get the game. I would think CBS would broadcast whoever is the local team or the Jets (Favre) everywhere else.

If a local Patriots sports bar is not available, then my suggestions would be:

1. Slingbox - If you're a Pats fan, there's a good chance you have a friend or relative in New England that can set up the base unit to the cable box in their home. Also get the added benefit of other Boston area pre and post game shows.

2. DirecTV Sunday Ticket - This may be no more expensive than what you end up spending in a sports bar, plus you get to hear the game.

3. Free internet connections such as channelsurfing or myp2p.

As somebody else mentioned, check NFL maps and your local TV Guide (edit your zip code, cable company, and date) as the game approaches to see what will be on in your area.
