Antonio Pierce: "I will laugh when I see them tonight"

If Goodell bans trash talk, I'm switching to golf fan-hood. It's part of the game. No biggy. They beat us, got the last laugh, sort of - no one buys them being better than us even a bit - and the "talketh thee trash". No problem.

Our scrubs will mop the floor with theirs. :D

Re: Antonio Pierce "I will laugh when I see them tonight"

So you're upset because he said that. How do you feel about this?

BMF, this is the New York media we are talking about. Do you honestly believe what they write? NOT ME. Unless it's quoted, I don't believe anything not written by Mike Reiss. John Tomase, taught me a valuable lesson about the media and their agendas, and the NEW YORK Media HAS an agenda. I don't believe anything they print. For all we know they twisted this Pierce guys words to support their agenda of Patriot HATRED. This is OLD NEWS. The Patriots should laugh at them. They are the Defending Super Bowl champs and nobody gives a Damn. Their QB is not on the cover of SI. The QB of the team he's going to laugh at is on the cover.

When the 2008 season is over, we will see who is LAUGHING.
And when did the Patriots laugh at them before that game...after that infamous Tomase article or before it? If this alleged laughter took place before the Tomase fiasco, then this report has some merit. If they claim that it happened right before the game, then that is BS. NO ONE in Patriots Nation was laughing after Tomase dropped that bomb.

I didn't interpret it the same way you did. As much as it pains me to say this, Pierce is right - the Giants did get the last laugh...

"It's going to be funny for me," Pierce said. "I'm going to laugh. We won. I can laugh. We got the last laugh.
Pierce is right in that they won. Laughing at the opponent you beat is different, IMO.

Starting a new season by laughing at last year's opponents isn't the right thing to do regardless of how many games you won last year.

I would hate to have Brady or Vrabel say they will be laughing at the Jets when they play them this season.

Peirce has won the right to brag, not to laugh.

He has the right to do both if he wants, but he will also have to live with the consequences. Fortunately for him, this is preseason. BB and his coaching staff could care less about revenge. We have to cut 22 people this weekend. Important Roster decisions need to be made. If the Giants want to make this game out to be more than what it is, more power to them. I will laugh while I watch them crash and burn during the regular season.

Re: Antonio Pierce "I will laugh when I see them tonight"

Read the comments at the bottom of the page. A couple of smackers but mostly Giants fans saying 18-0 is still incredible and admitting we've got a better chance of making it back.

Re: Antonio Pierce "I will laugh when I see them tonight"

I think you may be kind of taking it out of context a little bit. I agree the way they have been acting (on the whole) since the SB is ridiculously unprofessional, but I just don't see it here.

Did anyone on this board say it was unprofessional when Rodney did the mock Philly eagle wing flap at the end of super BowlXXXIX? Was it unprofessional for Symour and the D-line to invite the Giants to their SB party befor the game was over? All is fair... or whatever other stupid cliche you want to say. Next time win the game.

As much as it kills me to hear quotes like this, you gotta win the game and if you don't you can't complain.

This isn't the first time we heard that some Patriot players were inviting them to their victory party. I heard it shortly after we lost by several Giants players. It wasn't the media speculating these things, it was the players themselves saying these things.

Stuff like:

Giants receiver Amani Toomer on Manning keeping plays alive: “What can you say? You saw the plays he made. He was able to elude the rush at just the right time when we needed it the most. I can't say enough about how Eli played.”
Toomer said the Patriots had been inviting the Giants to their victory parties.

“They were inviting us to their parties after the game,” he said. “They showed us no respect.”

And of course, the Antonio Pierce quote was the result of the reporter asking him about the Patriots inviting the Giants to the Super Bowl party. No one is denying that. It should be a question asked when talking about the Giants first meeting with the team they upset in the Super Bowl. I don't think Pierce opened the interview by saying he's going to laugh at the Patriots.

Also, it's not really a big deal, otherwise it would have been the focus of the story. Instead, it's buried deep in the story for some thin-skinned Pats fan to bring to the top.

Hey Antonio, can ya locate Britain on the map yet?

Totally agree, as much as it sucks to be on the bad end of these celebrations or quotes, the winner has every right to do it. I don't think the Pats will go down in history as the most gracious winners or losers.

And if I remember correctly other players joined Rodney when he made the last pick on McNabb. Earlier in the game, Vrabel even did it, and I think Givens. Also, I'm pretty sure the Deion Branch wave bye-bye celebration against the Steelers was acceptable as well.

Re: Antonio Pierce "I will laugh when I see them tonight"

He was responding to the reporter asking him about those (Pats) players who were (allegedly) laughing at the Giants before the SB. Not about the team in general. That's how I interpreted it.

He should have just said something like alot of talk happens on the field or I may have something to say to him on the field....he doesn't need to air that. What happens between the lines should stay there.

I bet he has said some things he isn't proud of in the heat of the moment between the lines that he wouldn't like the ret of us to know about. But if he want to be a jerk about fine.

Also just because we have some jerks on our team too doesn't escuse him.

Yup......to the victor goes the spoils.

He can crow all he wants - they won, we lost and we eat it.

I hope we can use that for number four and STFU until we finally get it.

When we do......we can begin to crow about being among the best of all dynasty teams. But NOT until then.

Re: Antonio Pierce "I will laugh when I see them tonight"

Some of you people really need to shed the gossamer skin.

Classy players just STFU to the media or say things like "Well,I am looking forward to seeing these guys again and hopefully have the same outcome even if its preseason because it means more to beat them again since they are a pretty good team" or something like that -

IMO Its not right to gloat over something that happened 7 months ago big event or not, especially when you have nothing near the kind of team you had back then with nearly 1/3 of the starting defense gone and little chance of going anywhere this year.

'Team Of The Decade' is more appropriate than Dynasty IMO

I understand that winning gives you the right to brag about your conquest. You'll have to explain to me what gives you the right to laugh at a defeated opponent.

So is it better to gloat during a game that isn't even over?

****, he was asked about the Patriots rubbing it in their faces during the biggest game of the year, and then his team came miraculously comes out on top. He has every right to feel good about it, and gloat if he wants. His team got the last laugh.

Stop trying to paint this picture that the Patriots are all-classy, all the time. Football players talk trash, on and off the field, whether they are with the best or worst team. It's just part of the game.

Gosh, sorry if not everyone thinks exactly the way you do. Is there someplace we can go to discuss things that interest us without upsetting you? Or perhaps you could list all the things we need to do in order to be able to post here.

If your opponent wasn't showing you any respect during the game. Think Shawn Merriman, think Terrell Owens.
