Geno on the bubble in Tampa

Just goes to show you how little coach puff speak is in June. I recall an article how Wilson was playing CB with the 1s and he looked like the "real deal." I like the guy, don't get me wrong, but that was classic June coachspeak.

I hope he makes the team; he was a good player a few years ago, you'd hope he could regain his form ...

I agree...he lost a lot with injuries and..was not how he started in 03-04...I wish him luck..but you are right...going to work out big time..and now bubble time..

Kareem Brown, Matt Chatham and Hank Poteat are also on the bubble w/the Jets:

Cornerbacks David Barrett, Hank Poteat, Ahmad Carroll and Drew Coleman are on the bubble, as are safety Abram Elam, linebackers Matt Chatham and Cody Spencer and defensive end Kareem Brown. Brown and Carroll, a former No.1 pick of the Packers, have impressed, but they're fighting a numbers crunch at their respective positions.

Also interesting that Izzo would be a possibility for the Jets if we release him:

As always, the Jets will be aggressive in trying to add talent. One possibility could be Patriots linebacker Larry Izzo, a perennial Pro Bowl selection on special teams. Izzo's roster spot is thought to be in jeopardy. Former Jets linebacker Victor Hobson, who signed with the Patriots, also may not make the team. The Jets are well-stocked at outside linebacker, so a reunion would appear unlikely.

Funny, 3 weeks ago all the talking heads were listing him in the trio of reasons our secondary was screwed.

If they're fighting a numbers game, Izzo has no value to them. He barely gives US anything, imo. They won't pay his Salary just for pointers on how to beat our special teams (and fail).

If they are trying to add talent then they are not fighting a numbers game. Izzo definitely has some value if you don't have another guy just like him who plays the same role, like we have Aiken if healthy. Izzo has slowed down but is still a good, no longer great, special teams performer.

Did you watch the end of the first half last week??

Do you ever watch him on special teams....just IZZO and nobody else??

If you did you would realize his value and why he is a captain and is very important to this team.

"There is speculation that tight end Bubba Franks might be in trouble, but don't believe it. Despite an uneven preseason, Franks, Favre's former teammate from Green Bay, is safe. The Jets are deep at tight end, with Franks, incumbent Chris Baker, rookie Dustin Keller and Jason Pociask."

Question is...can BB restrain himself from signing a Jets castoff TE?

I think we could find work for Baker (did'nt he just sign a new deal), but Franks is a pig his best days are long behind him. I think we are only willing to take bad Jets, you know to make them good and make Mangini look stupid, I don't think we are interested in their good players.

I don't think Baker got a new deal. Wasn't that why he was holding out and he finally caved? Sounds like he really hates that organization. Was really hoping they would cut him as he would make a great blocking #3TE and would add even more spice to the Jets/Pats drama.

I could'nt remember I just knew there was squaking and money? He can play though, it seems in our recent games that he has had some opportunities, he just has'nt had anyone who could deliver the ball.
