You heard it here first ... tonights win was huge. Tonight was the beginning of the Sox playing .800 ball to seasons end ... you heard it here first ... I'm feeling it. ;) :D :eat3:

I'm feeling the wild card not the division. the rays aren't going any where. I've said it before there pitching is to good for them to go into a slide. division=wild card=playoffs. as long as the sox get in i dont care if its division or wild card.

Ok! I'll believe, too. :eat3:

I hope that the Rays end up playing the Angels in the playoffs as they will beat them and the Sox should be the Rays.

i dont care who the sox play. angels in the first round second round ? who cares. anybody can win in baseball come playoff time.

I don't know if it would be so easy. They got swept down in Tampa.
Rays have played the Sox real tough.

Boston has outscored the Rays 61-41, and made them look like little leaguers whenever they met up in Fenway. Boston has had the upper hand in the match-up this season.

how many runs have been scored during there games is irrelevant.its about wins and loses not style points. the sox and rays have played 12 times . they are 6 and 6. that's hardly the upper hand. both have swept the other at there home field. if the season ended today the rays would have home field in the playoffs. take your homer hat off and try to be objective.

Sorry I struck a chord.

My point is that the 6 games in Fenway have been blow outs, while the 6 games in Tampa were all very close. I like Bostons chances against them in the playoffs because at no point in the season has Boston been clearly outplayed by them. Boston was clearly outplayed by LAA, and while what we've seen against Chicago was positive, there hasn't been much of a sample against them. At this point I like their chances against Tampa over the other two teams currently likely to make the playoffs.

you said boston has the upper hand with the rays this year. they dont .they are 6 and 6.

I never said they weren't 6-6. I just said that they have the upper hand because, judging by what each team has done this season, Boston looks more likely to win a game in Tampa than Tampa does in Boston.

thats not what you said. you said boston had the upper hand against tampa. they dont they are 6 and 6. you are wrong. scoring more runs doesnt mean sh!t. lets play who can get the last word again. i know how much you love that game.

And the reason why I think they have the upper hand is because how they have played each other this season. Looking beyond the record shows that they have played Tampa very well. And while how they played them in the past doesn't change the record, but it can give a good idea of what will happen in the future.

I'm not saying they're a shoo-in to beat them, I'm just saying that I like Boston's chances against them come October.

this is what you said and its bs. you didn't say i think they WILL!!! have the upper hand if they meet in the playoffs. you said they have had the upper hand. if any team has the upper hand its tampa. they've shown they can win close games. up until the game in Toronto two days ago. the sox have lost close to 16 one run games in a row on the road. you can spin meaning less stats all day long . at the end of the day what teams did in the regular season against each other doest mean diddly squat come playoff time.

You're arguing schematics.

Fine. "has had the upper hand" was not the ideal choice of words for people going into an analytical dissection of my sentence. Would you feel better if I changed it to "should have the upper hand in the playoffs based on what they have done"?

if you want people to follow your post you should change it:rolleyes:. theres a big difference between had the upper hand[ in the past] and should have the upper hand[future]. using runs scored as some kind of indicator to how a playoff series will turn out between the rays and sox or any teams for that matter is stupid. we aren't talking football.

So take this as a lesson. Before you go and berate someone for their opinion, be sure you know their opinion. Else you look like a silly 13 year old looking for a fight.

berated you? what are you ten years old. dont blame me because you posted some Homerish non sense about the sox having the upper hand against a team that they are 6 and 6 against. then you come back with some weak sh!t about the sox scoring more runs in the games they won at fenway. give me a break i thought you were a baseball guy.
