Just thought I'd throw some red meat out to the pack.

This thread should be entertaining.

I can understand Hobson and Jackson ( even though Jackson is a bust).....but Cassel? In this one instance, I can say that Belichick is not doing what is best for the team, because of the time invested in the player. Cassel is horrible, and should be cut to make room for someone who will do something for this team.

Like Webster or Wendell? I don't think either one of them is much more valuable.

Eckel maybe, but I think they let him go because they won't carry more than 5 RBs, and they wanted to give Kyle a chance to latch on with someone else.

Makes sense to have 3 QBs for Thursday night, after all, we don't need to cut a QB until after that game and before Saturday (3 QBs obviously not including TFB who I expect to not play), so no reason to cut any of the 3 until we let them play 1 more game.

Your right...... I just cannot fathom how they could keep Cassel ( even though you layed the answer out for me).

I think he is putrid.

Well someone needs to play against the Giants, can't afford to get Gutierrez hurt.

Plus he can use the snaps as an audition for the arena league teams .

They have one more shot at getting hurt so they can avoid being cut...joking of course!

It should be clear to all long time fans by this point that BB obviously doesn't know what he's doing.

Right. He needs to just cut himself. And that Pioli guy.

I don't think it's any surprise they've survived the first cuts. Cassels been here a while now, clearly the staff must think he has something about him so he's going to be a decision that requires a little more thought.

However, it wasn't much of a cut-down, numberswise. Did anyone here think the 3 cut were going to be on the opening day roster? They are just saving most people for Friday's game. I still say Cassel & Hobson are going. Jackson, I'm not so sure. He's received a lot of playing time in the preseason, and which of the other receivers (after Moss, Welker & Gaffney) has outplayed him? Especially if Welker is a little dinged, Jackson may stick.

Cassel will start on Thursday night and play most of the game.

He will leave the game late in the fourth quarter with the score

49 to 0 Giants. On Saturday BB will cut Gutierrez and keep Cassel

because Cassel has more experience.

Even if all three were to get cut, I never expected any of them being cut in the first cutdown. I still think two of the three should survive the second cutdown.

No doubt about it. We gotta get rid of Kraft and Belichick. I miss Orthwein and McPherson. Now THAT was an Owner-Coach combination that should satisfy all the folks complaining about BB keeping Cassel, Bryant, etc.

I miss Victor Kiam and Zeke Mowatt.

Why would Matt Cassel be cut? Did anyone see the last meaningful game he played as a high school senior in 1999? Good stuff.
