What's the deal with the Ventrone fan club?

I don't mean that harshly, I've been impressed with him in the pre-season, but why is such a fave around here? Seems like we started TC with a Bubba Ventrone Love-In going on around here. What did I miss?

Maybe because this fan-base loves guys like Troy Brown, Tom Brady, Stephen Neal, David Givens, Randal Gay, Dan Koppen and Wes Welker kind of guys.

I didn't name them all but you get the drift. As another poster mentioned "underdogs".

When a guy starts moving around from ST to D to O, he is usually a player well liked by BB. I dont expect that 53rd guy on the roster to make the pro bowl....hard work, position flexibility and heart are the trademarks of the pats. I think they value flexibility over upside that far down the roster, he could even be used as a H-back in lieu of a 3rd TE. Its about opportunities, and he is getting them.

I like him too, on the practice squad. A Happy place where you can live out your days ruthlessly torment the rostered players while replicating the scout team. I'm pretty sure that's the part Bill likes best.........

Not sure what there is not to like.

A guy who has been around here for a few years fighting for a spot. Has contributed to STs ans tried to work his way onto the defense and now offense.

I am sure no one likes the guy the way we do Brady but I can't help but like a guy with the story of a Ventrone and hope he makes the team.

amen...............

Alright so who does he bump on the roster? I'm noticing the last bunch of cuts aren't as obvious here (at least to me) as they seem to be for a lot of other teams. Are our mediocre guys still league average?

By the way, from NFL.com:

29 Ted Ginn Jr. MIA WR 8 recs 97 yds 12.1 YPC 32.3 YPG 22 long 0 TDs 1 20+ 5 first downs
29 Raymond Ventrone NE DB 8 recs 97 yds 12.1 YPC 32.3 YPG 21 long 0 TDs 2 20+ 4 first downs

I wonder what the 'lphins fans must think. :D

Haha, that's pretty funny. Mind you those stats are from very different levels of play, but still, maybe we can trade even bubba for ginn... kidding.
