Mortensen: Brady has deep bone bruise

Maybe Gisselle kicked him for accidently calling her Bridgette?

Hey, trust me on this one. These things can happen. Not that, like, I have personal experience or sumpin..... sigh...

I wonder when he got it. Hopefully before the 2 weeks or so ago when he slowed his practice time down. Deep bone bruises, so Google tells me, can take a while to heal - I imagine he'll try to play the first three weeks and be taken out early if we get a big lead. I almost - that's almost - would like him to sit out the first 3 weeks then have the bye and then he'd be doing way better. If only Cassel didn't suck. Regardless, it's tough to know if it's good news or bad news without knowing when it happened and whether it's a mild one or not.

a deep bone bruise is much better than a ligament tear or something that would necessitate surgery..

i wouldn't put too much stock in Mort anymore.. Just heard a clip on the NFL network from Ken Wisenhunt where he was on a radio show talking about how "Ask Mort, he seems to know it all about my QBs" .. So, don't know about that ..

Judging by the injury and his quote he should be fine. Then again I also thought when Rodney broke his leg against the flaming tumbtacks 2 years ago he had just twisted something and would be fine.

I've read so much of this speculation that I forgot where I read this. He supposedly said that it happened in practice when by a falling player, he got accidentally kicked.

So the bone bruise seems to be right if what I remember he supposedly said is right.

Whatever, he's rock solid good luck KC. I'll take a gimpy TB over the Alabama kid.

I hope so. It's not a big deal at all.

Call me Ms Skeptical, but I doubt that anyone in the organization is tell Mort or anyone else what is wrong with Brady's foot.

Who's the Alabama kid? Cassell? He's from USC.

Think about this for a second and see why it is a reason to put MORE stock in Mortenson.

Wisenhunt gets mad because Mort says Kurt Warner will be the starting QB. After his whiny little rant, Wheezenhunt says that Warner will be the starter.

Well, gosh, Dopeyrunt, isn't that was Mortenson said?

I always get this stange sense that Mort is tighter with certain organizations than others, he's more of Jerry Jones' publicist than a football insider.

Take it FWIW...

Mort said TB had an MRI(which cliks with what some posters on this board reported). The MRI showed a possible stress fracture of the foot.

He subsequently had a CT scan, which showed no stress fracture, but a deep bone bruise.

This makes sense to me as a bone bruise takes a long time to heal, but you cause no further damage by running or playing on it.
Sounds to me that he must havebeen cleated on the top of the foot.

If he travels to NY,I'll bet we see him for a series or two.

Just thinking outloud again.

Doesn't a deep bone bruise have a small chance of being re injured? I have no idea.

And if that is true, isn't there injections they could give him to numb up the soreness?

This sounds like great news for the Pats.

Mort is just as often full of s^&* as he is on target. Bottom line: anyone in this organization, particularly Brady, would not be out running around in practice with a serious injury. Next subject?

If this is the case this is great news. I wasn't worried anyway, especially after listening to Brady on WEEI this morning. A bone bruise is bleeding in the inner portion of the bone but not a fracture of the outer bone, so that's a real positive. This is typically a 2-4 week injury that is cured with icing, rest and anti-inflammatory meds but the way Brady sounded this morning is that he was ready to go vs Philly so my guess would be that his preseason off is precautionary to make sure there are no lingering effects during the season, which is the best way to go.
