OPTION 1........................ OPTION 2
Gutierrez......................... veteran to be signed
Guyton........................... Seau
Redd............................... Alexander
Spann............................. Webster
Ventrone......................... Lewis Sanders or (perhaps Richardson if healthy)

Let's make the hard choices, as we do every year, in favor of the veterans and let's play some football!
=================
We also need to decide whether to keep BOTH Izzo and Aiken in place of the 3rd TE.

Option #1

Seau is good, but how much more left in the tank. I really like Guyton and Redd's game.

I am thinking Aiken gets IR'd if not cut Washington

Option #2 of the choices gives the team a much better chance this season. It's not even close. The options you lay out are essentially

1: players for the future but mostly useless this season

2: players to help buttress the team today, but of much less use going forward.

Is Seau even a factor? Is he fully recovered from his injuries? The

Pats could have him on PUP in case of emergency.

Putting him on PUP would be counterproductive.

The question is how ready Seau is. I suspect that he is ready now. The question is also how ready Hobson is. If Hobson is close and Seau is not, Seau goest to the PUP.

Seau is not on the team. Therefore, to place him on PUP, you'd have to sign him, and you would then be without him for a minimum of 6 weeks. There is no reason to do that. It's counterproductive. You can just have him unsigned until he's ready to return, no matter which week that might be.

You have to be on the PUP list before the start of TC. Therefore, Seau would have had to already be on the team.

The rule is that the player has to be put on PUP on or before the

first roster cutdown. Once a players practices he is not eligible.

well since i just learned that Ventrone is capable of playing fullback, i would definitely prefer it if he made the team. You can't teach that kind of versatility.
