I may have missed it somewhere but was there any update on Welker's injury?

Christopher Price posted a link saying it was a rib injury. Any new info beyond that isn't likely to make it's way to us.

log onto patriots.com, hit dailey injury update and you can get your info

If it's a bruised rib he should be ready for week 1. I dont think we'll seem him at practice for the rest of TC

I'm sure you'll get a detailed and comprehensive listing of all injuries on the Patriot official website. BB updates those posts himself. :)

If we don't hear anything by Mon. or Tues. then he will be back to play at some point, ala Aiken, Merriweather, Light, etc.

BB is usually quick to put people on IR if he thinks its serious enough, he doesnt wait.i think (fingers crossed) he should be okay. i saw the replay today on NFLN -frankly it didnt seem like that it as that bad.maybe broken ribs but didnt look that way when he walked to the sideline.

the dude took two steps and doubled over for a few seconds.. that cant be good

He also could be seen saying "wind" to the trainer... he either bruised or cracked a (or some) ribs. Probably have to wear a flak-jacket vest and will be sore, but I'd bet he'll be ready to for KC. Just hope he doesn't take another shot like that for awhile...

that injury looked pretty bad. this guy is pretty tough(not as tough as me) though so i think there is a chance he play in the season opener.

Official announcement: I HATE PRESEASON GAMES!

If we lose Welker for any length of time because he got hurt on a punt return in a meaningless pre season game, I will be worried for the health of Tom Brady as a result of this.
Welker is Brady's safely valve and when Toms feeling presssure, he often dumps it to Wes. If Wes is not in there, I can see Tom holding the ball longer as he searches for a target. This normally would not bother me but with the way our O line has underperformed this pre season, I don't want to see Brady making too many check downs. It could get him killed!

I can't believe PATs so superior Coaching staff put Wes, one of their key
receivers, in that situation.
That was a DUMB idea!!!!!!

Is he so much better than Slater? Why risk key players when other players
can do almost if not as well?
Injury management should be part of a good coaches understanding and
risking key players unnecessarily shows a total disregard for that aspect of
the game. Hobbs should not be out there either when you got Slater, Jones and others than can do the job. IMO.

Its really hard to disaggree with your assertion that both Hobbs and Welker should not have been out there. It was rediculous!

Here's the thing about a rib injury: They hurt wicked bad. I have suffered with a broken rib and it was a PITA for quite awhile. Problem is, there is no real way to treat it. You can't splint it, and basically you have to let it heal on it's own. It is painful to breath and move, and, surprisingly, laughing hurt even more. The worst was if you had to cough: THAT was by far the worst.

As to playing with it, WOW! It wouldn't be the contact that could reinjure it as much as moving, having to rotate your torso, twisting, bending over, etc. I truly hope that it is simply a bruise, because if he DID break one or more, then he's in for a long recovery time.

Ugh, if this is serious I'll be pissed.

DON'T HAVE WES WELKER RETURNING PRE-SEASON PUNTS.

On another note, don't have Randy Moss running reverses either.

Football players get hurt on football plays. I don't thin punt returns are a whole lot more dangerous than anything else. Sh!t happens. It sucks but it is what it is.
