With Favre in fold, Jets feeling like winners

September 14. Should be fun.

Yes sirree......let the mediots have their "love-fest" with Favre and hope they keep building up the hopes and dreams of the biggest loser fan base in all of sports only to see it all come crashing down at the hands of the Patriots. My prediction is that there will be a competition to see who the biggest bust this year at QB in NY is once Eli and Favre have failed to lead their respective teams to the playoffs by week 12.

You really think the Giants are not even going to make the playoffs this year?

I am predicting a Pats vs. Giants Super Bowl again.

I just don't think the NFC is that good. I think the Giants were a pereniall underachiever and than last year they finnally got things right. Yes beating us may have been somewhat of a fluke but There getting there and competing was not. I see the NFC as a four team race Giants, Cowboys, Packers, and Saints (others whith a chance if there offseason moves workout Vikings and Eagles).

break down of the 4

Packers: until Rodgers answers the important question I put the Giants ahead of them.
Cowboys: they are probably #2 in the NFC but until they win a playoff game (last time was with Aikman) they are behind the Giants.
Saints: I really like this team, they are staked with talent but I have concerns about their run game and deline and not making the playoffs last year puts you behind the SB champ
Giants: yes Strahan retired and they lost a LBer or 2 but they should and more importantly Eli should have all the confidence in the world now. I like the addition of Phillips and they already had the guys in place to replace Strahan thus they are still the favorites in my mind.

Vikings: until Tavaras proves he can play they are not top for in the NFC (though I do like tarvaras and think he could step up he has to do it 1st)
Eagles:Mcnabb would have to get back to his best and I have my doubts to wether he can.

That's a pretty good breakdown. I also like to look at division and schedule though.

Giants, Eagles, Redskins and Cowboys. All play the AFC North and NFC West.
The Giants schedule is very favorable for the first 6 games, then they play Pittsburgh, Dallas, Philly, and Baltimore. No gimmies there. They end with the Eagles, Cowboys, Carolina, and Minnesota. So they have 2 really rough patches in their schedule to get through. They could make the playoffs, especially if the Skins and Eagles don't live up to expectations.

He looked very very good last week against the Ravens in the first quarter. He did get an mild knee injury at the start of the second quarter but he might be in this Saturday against the Eagles.

Well, if they spent $112 million in the offseason, including a playoff QB, stay relatively healthy and fail to make the playoffs MangIdiot should be fired. Period.

So SHOULD they be a playoff contender? Yes.

WILL they be a playoff team? That remains to be seen.

If there's true locker room discord among some players and the team gets off to a rocky start - which given their schedule is a very real possibility, the season could go down the drain pretty quickly.

I gotta say I am likin on NO this year! In addition to a good draft they got Shockey, Gay, Vilma to shore up that D. I think Brees is going to be the man this year, he has been missing that short route reliable guy that I think Shockey plugs. We will see, Philly looks good too.

So they should until favre throws 4 picks against the Pats and looks awestruck at what BB cooks up for him.

No. I don't think the G-men make it to the playoffs this year. They had a phenomenal run last year, no doubt, but the NFC East is a very competitive division. I believe Dallas will walk away with it, and a wildcard will come out of it as well with it being a dogfight between Washington and Philly. Eli did nothing to convince me that he will be able to carry a team with a bulls-eye on it's back. I know he won the SB, but I think we can all agree the Giant's defense can take 99.9% of the credit, while Eli can bask in the glory. They will have problems this year and once Plaxico turns into pumpkin by mid-season the wheels will start to fall off of that wagon as they continue to lose some games.

You didn't by chance watch the Giants/Browns preseason game and see what Eli looked like, did you? I think the kid has finally molded into the real deal that he was supposed to be coming out of college.

I did, but I'm not convinced until I see him do it on a weekly basis against 1st team starters. Especially when he has to face a much tougher defense than the Cleveland Browns. I'll sing a different tune if he can shred Dallas and Philly in a similar fashion, besides I want hate on him while I can.:D I'm still sore.
