Love this line by Peter King ... already posted in another thread but well worth it's own discussion.

4. I think I don't want to hear what great fans the Jets have. Not for a long time. That crowd Saturday night was a disgrace. At least half the stadium was empty for Favre's debut in a Jets' uniform. I expressed my amazement to a few fellow scribes Saturday night -- emphasizing that N.Y. traded for an all-time-great quarterback, not a broken-down one -- and they gave varying reasons for the poor turnout. Like it's the middle of vacation month for New Yorkers, and it's a preseason game. Horsefeathers. If you really love your team, and you have season tickets, you should have been at that game unless you were in Tibet. Ridiculous

=====================================================

Well, it was a sell out!

Do you go to the preseason games? I would, but I live in Portland OR. I can understand why a lot of fans would choose to pass.
Tri state market has a lot of competition for fans, Mets,Giants, Nicks, etc. etc.. Best turnout the Jets have had in years for a preseason game.

they have all been giants fans since jan and have not made the switch back to the jets yet

As much as I hate to say it, Brett Favre looked pretty damn good the other night.

Let's see family vacation or seeing Favre play for about 5 minutes? Hmmm.

You are definitely one Jets fan that doesn't suck, but that is totally disingenuous. The Jets force all of their season ticket holders to buy the tickets to the preseason games, not actually show up. I actually side with the Jets fans on this one though, it's still just a goddamn preseason game and Favre played for only 2 series.

Saturday night in NYC or preseason football?

Tell me about it. While it was a special event for the team, it was a preseason game and maybe a dozen snaps of the football at that. I'd much rather save all that dough for something more. However, if these season ticket holders were smart, I hope they tried selling off their tickets.

Also, the Peter King comments just further emphasize what a Brett Favre lover he is.

If 2 plus weeks with Favre have taught me anything is that the media are run by a bunch of losers who all have ulterior motives. Seriously, ESPN BREAKING NEWS: Favre Runs Lap! Who gives a crap,

Pennington looked really good that night also:confused:

Indeed he did. Word down in Miami is that it was Pennington's mechanics and not so much his multiple shoulder injuries that was affecting the ability to throw the ball down the field. Dolphins fans are suddenly feeling confident. Plus, I think Henne will be the real deal in a couple of years.

I think Pennington is a better than averge QB in the league. If he's on a team that stresses defense and ball control ... very similar to our team in 2001 he can floursih. He's as good a QB as there is in the league managing the clock and making accurate shorter range timing throws. I hope this move blows up in the Jets face ... I'm sure others feel the same.

Pennington's arm strength definitely looked better on the highlights I saw. Good luck to the man except on 2 dates a season. I ripped him a new one as a Jet but now that he is gone and I can take a deep breath, I wish him all the best except 2 vs Jets games.

As for Henne, I really am a Henne basher and this was since the end of his junior year. The guys pocket presence is almost non existent, his accuracy can go from pin point one second to WTF the next. He can make all the throws I just think he was a underachiever in college. He ran a college offense with Mike Hart, Mario Manningham, Adrian Arrington yet they were unable to rank amongst the elite even though they had elite college weapons. He could be very good, I just am not a fan of his. He also looks like a FB, lol

I definitely think he can suceed with the fins since they seem to have a strong o-line and good running game. However I think his last 3 years of football have shown at this stage he is an average NFL QB. His ability to not make dumb decisions has almost evaporated recently. If CP is your QB and your trailing by two scores w/ under 7 minutes to go, just give up.

K-Ro, how has Ratliff looked in the pre-season? Is it conceivable that he sticks and another vet QB gets the axe? Who would it be?

Ratliff has looked phenomenal. From training camp to preseason action the kid shows a lot to smile about. It is against mostly 2nd and 3rd stringers but from what he has shown he has shown good pocket presence. Its like night and day watching him and Clemens stand in there. Clemens gets happy feet holding onto the ball, Ratliff makes his reads and knows where he is going with the ball. His arm strength and acuuracy have looked pretty sweet as well. He has a legit chance to be our #2 and there is a quiet whisper in Jets country if this kid could possibly be a future QB resolution. I wont go that far but I would not completely dismiss it. With our QB's I think there is a good chance we try to find a bogus reason to IR Ainge or pray that he clears waivers (will never happen) and put him on the practice squad.

I think you're right, Ainge to IR.
