Didn't take long to fill up Pollard's spot. Must be a better blocker.

The Patriots filled their open roster spot, created by the release of veteran TE Marcus Pollard, by re-signing rookie TE Tyson DeVree.

A bit from the team's press release:

DeVree, 23, was originally signed by the Patriots as a rookie free agent on May 5, 2008 and was released by the Patriots on June 11, 2008. He finished his college career at the University of Colorado (2006-07) after transferring from Western Michigan (2003-04) after his sophomore year. The 6-foot-6, 245-pound tight end played in 44 collegiate games, making 96 receptions for 987 yards and 15 receiving touchdowns.

Is this another Lavdrim Bauta kind of thing?

A fill out the camp bodies roster until the cut down date and bye kinda thing? I think so. I miss Bauta. :)

Re: TE DeVree signed

Every time I see this last name I'm reminded of David Tyree.

That name rings a bell but I think it is from that part of my life that I intentially erased so I can't place it.

With the haste this happened sounds like Pollard asked for his release seeing the writing on the wall. Maybe he just didnt like BLOCKING that much, lol.

Well...he'll battle Stupar for a PSqd position....guess it also means Spach might not be ready...can't hurt at all...looking at another player..It's what they do all the time.

Meet your new backup QB...

This is clear sign the team is not satisfied with Cassel's run blocking.
