Didn't see this posted anywhere and thought it was notable to the point it deserved it's own thread. :D

Quote from P. King's MMQB:

"We can't be the Patriots. The Patriots, they epitomize the whole team concept. Those guys are all about team and that's it. We're not them. We are a team that has a bunch of names, a bunch of personalities and a bunch of youth.'

--Dallas linebacker Bradie James, to NBCSports.com's Tom Curran'

I wonder how well this went over with Mr. Jones?

He's absolutely right, though. I think Dallas may a have a tough year getting all those game-breakers to work together in a clean and consistent fashion.

As a guy who has always loved names, flash and lots-and-lots of press attention for his team, I'm guessing a big thumbs up.

Wow, that's great. Not to mention absolutely true.

WOW, would have never thought that about the Boys, what with TO, Romo in Cancun, Owner Jones on the sideline......

We'll see how well it went over if Bradie James gets released in the next 24 hours.

ESPN could have some fun with that and a slight typo.

BRADY RELEASED POOR ATTITUDE CITED

Oh good, when I saw the title I thought for sure he was gonna say something like, "We can't be the Patriots. We can't cheat to get where we are, we gotta do things the right way."

Coming from King, I was positive he'd be digging up some kind of quote like that.

Answer: Not so good.

I think it depends on the context. If he was stating it in a way to call his team out on how important the team aspect of the game is than fine but if he was just pointing out that the Cowboys orginization is a mess and don't know how to create a team and only knows how to aquire talent than that would be different.

It sounds like you're assuming that James was presenting the not-Patriotness of the team as a negative. From subsequent quotes, I read it more as "We're not worried about trying to be like somebody else, we just have to focus on winning our way."

Maybe he meant it to be anti-bulletin board material. Hoping it would inflate some egos in the Pats lockeroom and they let their guard down. Like that makes any sense.

Jerry is probably jumping up and down for joy. That is what he wants for his team. He is a lot more flashy than Kraft. Jones even said he would be open to having his team filmed for Hard Knox on HBO all season long.

If Jones was concerned about the team concept, he would never had added guys like T.O. or Pacman Jones to his team. He loves big personalities and big time stars.

I hope so, he'd fit in well in NE.

Weird, I've always liked this guy. See you in a few years Bradie, hang on until then.

Bradie, who is a team captain and leader on the defense, was asked to further clarify the comments he made. He was basically issuing an age-old cliche, i.e. "I don't want to be the next Michael Jordan, I want to be the first Lebron James." The point he made is that you can't just try and copy what the Patriots have done in the 2000's and expect to have success, just like The Patriots didn't copy what the Cowboys did in the 1990's to have their success.

"We can't be those guys. We have to be ourselves," James said. "We have to find a way to make it work and embody the whole team concept, being the Dallas Cowboys and not how they did it out there in New England.

"As long as we kick the egos out the door and come together as a team, we'll be fine. We have enough names to really do whatever it is we need to do, but there's a flip side to that. You've got enough names to take us to the next level, and you've got enough names to tear this thing down."

But listening to things taken out of context is so much more fun!
