It may be too early to bring back Seau. They may let him R'n'R until we're into the season and have had some injuries, or at the very most when Mayo is approaching the rookie "wall."

A little surprised by when he was released, but I've expected this move all along.

It's hard to justify a spot on Spach or Stupar, in my opinion, as they are unspectacular players; comparable players can be found throughout the course of the regular season. The team rarely used a third tight end in-game last season, as well, either using a backup tackle or Heath Evans to fill a blocking role.

Or maybe until just after cut downs to make it easier to keep the one player. Releasing the guy than when all teams are filled and practice squads are filled may make it easier to get him to your practice squad.

Personally I would love to see the open spot go to Seau now rather than playing the game because I want to know.

I'm surprised that so many of us think this means Spach or Stupar.

I think it means 2 TE's with Evans between FB and TE. Hybridization ala BB.

I think we go 2 TE's, 4 HB's and Evans, and maybe carry eleventeen Linebackers.

...plus throw in the technical/financial disadvantages of having a vested veteran on your roster for game 1. I totally expect to see Seau on this team, and I'm looking forward to it -- week 2.

The problem is, they didn't seem to be using Evans that way in camp.

Pollard was a big mouth against the Patriots when he was with the Colts and predicted a win in an arrogant fashion to which NE responded and whipped the Colts ass

He was a guy I did not like nor want on the team

Good move by the FO IMO

True, but they're practicing today with one less tight end. This trend (Evans no TE) could emerge. Doesn't Vrabel jump in at TE on occasion too?

I've been thinking and I mentioned it in the QB poll:
Couldn't Pollard's empty spot be a great place to stick a vet QB? I think the empty slot is almost guaranteed to go to a former Pat's Vet or a rookie (ultimately) so why not grab a Vinny or a Daunte and get them in the rotation for a couple of weeks, see if they can shake the QB tree enough to make the decision easier?

You beat me to it. The guy was a Colt through and through. Good riddance.

I am thinking another corner or Seau to be added.

I think the Pats do keep Spach, and I think it's as much a comment on Dave Thomas' not yet coming around as a blocker as it is on how much Pollards has left in him as a pass-catcher.

After watching Thomas get muscled around left and right on Sunday, I would be very concerned about run-blocking if something happened to Thomas.

The first roster cutdown to 75 is a week from today (I think?). Pollard's spot would be a 7 day rental. Not sure how much value there is in filling that spot considering the Philly game is in 3 days.

.......just a feeling, but I think they're getting set up for a QB signing. My shocker would be Brian Griese from Tampa Bay.

BB remembers how he gave us fits when he was with Miami.

What do you give up for him? TB is not going to just give him away. How late a draft pick?

You might be right...they may just not fill it over 3 days

I think its a 2 TE team now with Vrabel on goal line and one on the PS. In a pinch I think Ventrone sticks and does his best Troy Brown immitation. I think we keep one more WR because of this, likely Aiken if he isnt too hurt.
